Anthropogenic Scam

The hidden result of Cancun: dictators get more gas-guzzling cars and private jets

By Alex Singleton Last updated: December 21st, 2010

Here’s the truest point I’ve heard a politician make about the Cancun global warming conference. UKIP’s Paul Nuttall mockingly congratulates fellow European politicians – just back from the conference – on ensuring that dictators will get more Mercedes cars and private jets.

How will this happen? Well, as Louise Gray reported, the delegates promised to pour £60 billion annually from 2020 into a “green fund” to help poor countries adapt to floods and droughts. Nuttall reckons, quite plausibly, that the fund will be diverted into dictator’s pockets – which is what happens to much of our existing foreign aid budget.

What’s worse is that the British taxpayer is inevitably going to have to pay the world’s biggest slice of this £60 billion, as other governments only pay lip service to this sort of Left-wing lunacy. Indeed, despite the Left’s obsession with the supposed evil of America for refusing to pass the Kyoto Treaty through Congress, most countries that signed up failed to meet their treaty commitments.

Just listening to Lord Stern – whose report on climate change was derided as “biased” and “implausible” by his fellow peer Nigel Lawson – will show that our political elite cares not an inch that we are going to overpay: at Cancun he declared that we should pay £15 billion a year in green taxes.

It’s easy to be loose with other’s people money – but when we already know it will be wasted, and in the name of bogus science, it is truly a scandal.

Climate Scam - The game is up

The abdication of the West

From The Viscount Monckton of Brenchley

Cancun, Mexico

I usually add some gentle humor to these reports. Not today. Read this and weep. Notwithstanding the carefully-orchestrated propaganda to the effect that nothing much will be decided at the UN climate conference here in Cancun, the decisions to be made here this week signal nothing less than the abdication of the West. The governing class in what was once proudly known as the Free World is silently, casually letting go of liberty, prosperity, and even democracy itself. No one in the mainstream media will tell you this, not so much because they do not see as because they do not bl**dy care.
