Arianna Huffington Calls Obama’s OBL-Mitt Ad ‘Despicable’

IT IS!

Arianna Huffington Calls Obama’s OBL-Mitt Ad ‘Despicable’ - By Greg Pollowitz - Media Blog - National Review Online

By Greg Pollowitz
April 30, 2012 4:03 P.M.

I guess the president should blame his joke writer for making fun of Arianna at the WHCD. A woman scorned and all that. Politico:
Huffington Post editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington said Monday that making a campaign ad about the killing of Osama bin Laden, as President Barack Obama has done, “is one of the most despicable things you can do.”
“I think it’s one thing to celebrate the fact that they did such a great job. It’s one thing to have an NBC special from the Situation Room,” the media mogul said on “CBS This Morning.” “All that, to me, is perfectly legitimate. But to turn it into a campaign ad is one of the most despicable things you can do.”

SEALs slam Obama for using them as 'ammunition' in bid to take credit for bin Laden killing during election campaign | Mail Online
30 April 2012  By Toby Harnden

Serving and former US Navy SEALs have slammed President Barack Obama for taking the credit for killing Osama bin Laden and accused him of using Special Forces operators as ‘ammunition’ for his re-election campaign.
The SEALs spoke out to MailOnline after the Obama campaign released an ad entitled ‘One Chance’.
In it President Bill Clinton is featured saying that Mr Obama took ‘the harder and the more honourable path’ in ordering that bin Laden be killed. The words ‘Which path would Mitt Romney have taken?’ are then displayed.
Besides the ad, the White House is marking the first anniversary of the SEAL Team Six raid that killed bin Laden inside his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan with a series of briefings and an NBC interview in the Situation Room designed to highlight the ‘gutsy call’ made by the President.

Very Low Expectations - Obama: I Can Do Every Job Better Than Those I Hire to Do It

Obama: I Can Do Every Job Better Than Those I Hire to Do It - By Jim Geraghty - The Campaign Spot - National Review Online
[full short post]

Obama: I Can Do Every Job Better Than Those I Hire to Do It
By Jim Geraghty
April 24, 2012 9:26 A.M.

It appears one of the great challenges that President Obama has had to overcome in office is that no one around him is as good at their job as he is.
From Jodi Kantor’s The Obamas, page 66:
Obama had always had a high estimation of his ability to cast and run his operation. When David Plouffe, his campaign manager, first interviewed for a job with him in 2006, the senator gave him a warning: “I think I could probably do every job on the campaign better than the people I’ll hire to do it,” he said. “It’s hard to give up control when that’s all I’ve known.” Obama said nearly the same thing to Patrick Gaspard, whom he hired to be the campaign’s political director. “I think I’m a better speechwriter than my speechwriters,” Obama told him. “I know more about policies on any particular issue than my policy directors. And I’ll tell you right now that I’m gonna think I’m a better political director than my political director.”
This is not some long-ago sentiment, or momentary lapse into egoism. Michelle Obama declared at a Democratic-party fundraiser in California last June:
“He reads every word, every memo, so he is better prepared than the people briefing him,” she said. “This man doesn’t take a day off.”
At the time, I noted it’s a good thing that the Central Intelligence Agency is full of classy, dignified, professional people; otherwise, tomorrow’s President’s Daily Brief might consist of, “Well, since you’re so well prepared, figure it out yourself, smarty-pants.”
Also note that “the man doesn’t take a day off.” Correct, but we can all breathe easier knowing he found time for golf for eleven straight weekends.

Sticks to his Biggest Lie, Al Gore at Hampshire College: Global warming is real and needs to be addressed now | masslive.com

This scamming liar sticks to his flim-flam cause, the hoax of androgenic global warming.

Big 'Carbon' Foot Sighting
He owns 9, that's 9, houses, all with small town size 'carbon footprints.' The carbon footprint and carbon credit trade is part of his own dreamed up scheme to bilk the people out of taxes in exchange "credits." Funny how his carbon credit company set its own prices and trade standards that just, coincidentally, would make Gore richer.

Al Gore at Hampshire College: Global warming is real and needs to be addressed now | masslive.com

April 27, 2012 Diane Lederman, The Republican
AMHERST — Former Vice president Al Gore on Friday refuted claims that global warning is a myth, saying that 97 to 98 percent of the worlds’ scientists attest to its veracity.
Gore was the keynote speaker at the inauguration of Hampshire College President Jonathan LashFriday. The theme of Lash’s inauguration was “Educating for Change: critical thinking in a critical time.”
“Now there are some talk radio show hosts, they say that (global warming is) not (real)," Gore said. "It’s up to you; my point is we must respond. What the scientists tell us is going to take place if we do not is too awful to contemplate.”
Just before Gore spoke, he was introduced by Hampshire alumnus Gary Hirshberg, co-founder of the New Hampshire-based Stonyfield Farm, who announced a $1 million donation to the college for its commitment to the environment.
Gore, who spoke for about 20 minutes before the more than 2,000 people who packed the tent on the campus lawn, told stories about growing up in Nashville, Tenn., at a time of the civil rights movement and the need to address injustice. He spent just a few minutes addressing the environment and global warming.
In 2007, Gore won the Nobel Prize with the U.N Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. [Now refuted for false data claims.]

Sharpton Sows Seeds of Next L.A. Riot

And the news media are licking their lips. The poor rioters become the oppressed part of a 'civil disturbance.'
Sharpton is grinning reaper!

PJ Media » Sharpton Sows Seeds of Next L.A. Riot
April 28, 2012  Jack Dunphy

At the intersection of Rodney King and Trayvon Martin.

As we remember the last riot in Los Angeles, the seeds of the next one are being sown.
Al Sharpton was in Los Angeles on Thursday, attending a church rally marking the two-month anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death.  Why Los Angeles should be chosen as the venue for such an event may at first seem a mystery, but whatever one may think of him, Sharpton can be counted among the true masters at manipulating the media.  And here in Los Angeles this week, much of the media has been consumed with observing the 20th anniversary of what is often referred to as the Rodney King riots.  The not-so-subtle message Sharpton was here to convey is this: Listen to me, do as I say, or face the consequences.
Recall that on April 29, 1992, four Los Angeles Police Department officers were acquitted in the beating of Rodney King, who had led police on a high-speed pursuit through L.A.’s San Fernando Valley.  When he finally pulled over, unlike his two passengers King refused to submit to arrest and was struck with batons, kicked, and shocked with a Taser, all of which was captured on that famous videotape by a man who lived nearby. The tape (edited portions of it, actually) was played on television in what seemed to be a continuous loop for months, and then was played again ad nauseam throughout the officers’ trial. It was that tape, and the careful but deceptive manner in which it was edited and shown, that led to the near-universal expectation that the accused officers would be convicted.  When they weren’t, much of Los Angeles was put to the torch in days of rioting and looting.
By yoking himself to the memory of the Los Angeles riots, and to the coming trial of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, Sharpton is implicitly threatening violence even as he explicitly denounces it.  “I’ve fought for justice for Trayvon,”Sharpton wrote at the Huffington Post, “because I believe in America and I don’t believe we should burn it down.  Let’s prove that we are in fact the United States of America, and let’s not miss another opportunity to show just how great we can be.”

Dog ate Dog - You are what you eat - Cuisines from My Stepfather

As a serial polygamist, I feel amongst the very lucky to have been loved and to have loved more than once. m/r

Cuisines from My Stepfather - Mark Steyn - National Review Online

By Mark Steyn  April 28, 2012

Our president's curious cool.
A couple of days ago, Obama-campaign top dog David Axelrod threw in the towel on the dog war. “I thought it was a little absurd to talk about what the president had done as a ten-year-old boy,” he sniffed to MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, which is as near as the suddenly sheepish attack dog will ever get to conceding that Barack Obama is the first dog-eating president in the history of the republic. For those coming late to the feud, the Democrats started it, assiduously promoting accounts of a 1983 Romney vacation to Canada in which the family pooch Seamus rode on the roof of the car. Axelrod and the boys thought they could have some sport with this, and their poodles in the media eagerly played along. The New York Times columnist Gail Collins alone has referred to it dozens of times.
And then Jim Treacher, the sharp-eyed wag of the Daily Caller, uncovered this passage from Chapter Two of Obama’s bestselling but apparently largely unread memoir Dreams from My Father, in which the author recalls childhood meals with his stepfather Lolo Soetoro:
I was introduced to dog meat (tough), snake meat (tougher) ...  He explained that a man took on the powers of whatever he ate: One day soon, he promised, he would bring home a piece of tiger meat for us to share.
There followed an Internet storm of “I Ate a Dog (and I Liked It)” gags.  ...
“Should We Have a President Who Isn’t Even Qualified to Adopt a Pet?” Confronted by the revelation that his preferred candidate only swings by the Humane Society for the all-you-can-eat buffet, he huffs that this is “false equivalence.” “A six-year-old with no choice in the matter” is not the same as a grown man choosing to place his dog on the roof of his vehicle. My Canadian compatriot Kate McMillan, a dog breeder, advised Mr. Funk to “try this experiment–sit a normal, American 6 year old down at a plate and tell him it’s dog meat. Watch what happens.”
For their next exploding cigar, the Democrats chose polygamy. Brian Schweitzer, the Democratic governor of Montana, remarked that Romney was unlikely to appeal to women because his father was “born on a polygamy commune.”...
Just for the record, Romney’s father was not a polygamist; Romney’s grandfather was not a polygamist; his great-grandfather was a polygamist. ...
Meanwhile, back in the female-friendly party, Obama’s father was a polygamist; his grandfather was a polygamist; and his great-grandfather was a polygamist who had one more wife (five in total) than Romney’s great-grandfather. It seems President Obama is the first male in his line not to be a polygamist.  ...
The exploding cigars are revealing not merely of Democratic hypocrisy but of a key difference in worldview between liberals and conservatives. Jeremy Funk and Governor Schweitzer reflexively believe that their dog-eating polygamy-scion is different from the other guy’s dog-transporting polygamy-scion. ...
Obama is correct that certain cultures believe a man takes on the powers of whatever he eats.

How Apple Sidesteps Billions in  Taxes [MORE POWER TO THEM]

By  and

RENO, Nev. — Apple, the world’s most profitable technology company, doesn’t design iPhones here. It doesn’t run AppleCare customer service from this city. And it doesn’t manufacture MacBooks or iPads anywhere nearby.
Yet, with a handful of employees in a small office here in Reno, Apple has done something central to its corporate strategy: it has avoided millions of dollars in taxes in California and 20 other states.
Apple’s headquarters are in Cupertino, Calif. By putting an office in Reno, just 200 miles away, to collect and invest the company’s profits, Apple sidesteps state income taxes on some of those gains.
California’s corporate tax rate is 8.84 percent. Nevada’s? Zero.
Setting up an office in Reno is just one of many legal methods Apple uses to reduce its worldwide tax bill by billions of dollars each year. As it has in Nevada, Apple has created subsidiaries in low-tax places like Ireland, the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the British Virgin Islands — some little more than a letterbox or an anonymous office — that help cut the taxes it pays around the world.
Almost every major corporation tries to minimize its taxes, of course. For Apple, the savings are especially alluring because the company’s profits are so high. Wall Street analysts predict Apple could earn up to $45.6 billion in its current fiscal year — which would be a record for any American business.
Apple serves as a window on how technology giants have taken advantage of tax codes written for an industrial age and ill suited to today’s digital economy. Some profits at companies like Apple, Google, Amazon, Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft derive not from physical goods but from royalties on intellectual property, like the patents on software that makes devices work. Other times, the products themselves are digital, like downloaded songs. It is much easier for businesses with royalties and digital products to move profits to low-tax countries than it is, say, for grocery stores or automakers.

A very small minded person with a big list - Strassel: The President Has a List

Nor Obama's
We have seen his nasty vindictiveness when he thought the cameras and microphones were off.
He doesn't think he should represent all the citizens, nor does he think the laws of dead white men apply to him!
Have you ever filled out the forms that are a part of government bids?
They are interminable, indomitable and inquisitional. Now, Torquemada Obama plans to add his own divisive requirements:

The White House even ginned up an executive order (yet to be released) to require companies to list political donations as a condition of bidding for government contracts. Companies could bid but lose out for donating to Republicans.

Strassel: The President Has a List - WSJ.com
April 26, 2012,

By KIMBERLEY A. STRASSE

Try this thought experiment: You decide to donate money to Mitt Romney. You want change in the Oval Office, so you engage in your democratic right to send a check.
Several days later, President Barack Obama, the most powerful man on the planet, singles you out by name. His campaign brands you a Romney donor, shames you for "betting against America," and accuses you of having a "less-than-reputable" record. The message from the man who controls the Justice Department (which can indict you), the SEC (which can fine you), and the IRS (which can audit you), is clear: You made a mistake donating that money.
Are you worried?
Richard Nixon's "enemies list" appalled the country for the simple reason that presidents hold a unique trust. Unlike senators or congressmen, presidents alone represent all Americans. Their powers—to jail, to fine, to bankrupt—are also so vast as to require restraint. Any president who targets a private citizen for his politics is de facto engaged in government intimidation and threats. This is why presidents since Nixon have carefully avoided the practice. ....
... Save Mr. Obama, who acknowledges no rules. This past week, one of his campaign websites posted an item entitled "Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney's donors." In the post, the Obama campaign named and shamed eight private citizens who had donated to his opponent. Describing the givers as all having "less-than-reputable records," the post went on to make the extraordinary accusations that "quite a few" have also been "on the wrong side of the law" and profiting at "the expense of so many Americans." ...
"We don't tolerate presidents or people of high power to do these things," says Theodore Olson, the former U.S. solicitor general. "When you have the power of the presidency—the power of the IRS, the INS, the Justice Department, the DEA, the SEC—what you have effectively done is put these guys' names up on 'Wanted' posters in government offices." Mr. Olson knows these tactics, having demanded that the 44th president cease publicly targeting Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries, which he represents. He's been ignored.

The economy is rotten. A black man is harmed under less-than-clear circumstances; the race-baiters quickly take up the call, proclaiming that the violent incident is a symptom of endemic American racism. The men responsible for the incident are tried and largely acquitted. The president of the United States, in the midst of a re-election cycle, rips the verdict.
This is the Rodney King case. And it’s worth remembering because the similarities between it and the Trayvon Martin case are far too eerie to ignore.  And its worth remembering too that the King case ended with a major American city in flames.
On March 2, 1991, Rodney King and two of his friends, Bryant Allen and Freddie Helms, were driving through Los Angeles. King was driving drunk – probably twice the legal blood-alcohol limit. At 12:30 in the morning, two officers saw King speeding. They pursued King through the streets of Los Angeles, with King’s pedal to the metal and the speedometer hitting upwards of 80 mph in residential areas. King admitted later that he was trying to get away from the cops because a DUI would put him back in prison for violating parole on a robbery charge.
Eventually, officers surrounded King’s car. Allen and Helms surrendered quietly and were not harmed. King, however refused to emerge from the car. When he did, he reached for his waistband; one of the cops drew her weapon and told King to get on the ground. He complied. But when four cops – Officers Laurence Powell, Timothy Wind, Theodore Briseno and Rolando Solano – went to subdue him, he lashed out at them. Officer Stacey Koon then tasered King. But King refused to go down. The officers, recognizing that tasers should immediately lay low those struck with them, believed that King was on PCP.
That’s when the famous taping began. Powell, Wind, and Briseno began beating King, who continued to try to get up. After 56 blows, King finally lay still.
Initially, the police dismissed the video; the person taping then gave it to the media. The outcry was deafening. The full facts of the case weren’t made available to the public – the public was left with the impression that the officers simply decided to beat up a slightly uncooperative black man.
Koon, Powell, Briseno and Wind were charged with use of excessive force. The original jury trial was supposed to take place in a heavily minority area, but was transferred to Simi Valley, a heavily white area. The four officers were essentially acquitted.
And riots broke out. Huge riots across South Central Los Angeles. Stores were looted. Asian-owned stores in particular were targeted and burned to the ground.
And the race-baiters took over. They suggested that the officers were acquitted because white folks were happy to see King’s beating. Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) quickly became an advocate for the rioters,...

May Day Mayhem on Its Way | FrontPage Magazine

By Matthew Vadum On April 27, 2012
Occupy Wall Street supporters, labor activists, and other radicals calling for a general strike against capitalism across America on May 1 insist their activities will be peaceful.
As usual, they’re lying.
Protesters on May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day, are going to commit “a lot of violent acts which they’re then going to blame police for,” former community organizer Brandon Darby, a leading expert on leftist tactics, told me in an exclusive interview.
As I revealed in my book Subversion Inc.: How Obama’s ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers, Darby has been a target ever since it was publicly revealed that the former left-wing anarchist saved the lives of innocent Americans by thwarting the planned fire-bombing of the 2008 Republican Convention by two anarchists.
Occupy Wall Street and the satellite protests it has spawned in cities across the U.S. and around the world have been spectacularly violent. Radical activists are responsible for hundreds of serious crimes, including murder, assault, gang rape, arson, rioting, and robbery.
The actions planned for May 1 are part of what left-wingers are calling the “99% Spring.” They are designed to disrupt the U.S. economy and ultimately to extinguish what remains of Americans’ cherished economic freedoms in the increasingly socialist Obama era. Leaders also hope to press lawmakers to promote the fraud known as “green energy” and to give those with student loan debts a massive $1 trillion bailout at the expense of taxpayers.
MoveOn and former Obama green jobs czar Van Jones’s “Rebuild the Dream” group are just two of the major left-of-center organizations that are gearing up to inconvenience Americans and manufacture chaos next week. Though activists in various urban centers have different plans for this Tuesday, they are all united in their hatred of the economic system that made America great while uplifting its poorest citizens.
Los Angeles activists claim that on May 1 “[p]eople from all sectors of the city will have a chance … [at] helping to shut down the flow of capital while addressing the 99%’s major grievances.” After a day of agitation “that cripples capitalism in the city,” Occupy Los Angeles supporters will have yet another opportunity to perfect their up twinkle and down twinkle consensus-seeking hand signals at “a special General Assembly” in Pershing Square.

Georgia Grandmother Foils Robbery By Getting Into Shootout With Suspects « CBS Atlanta
April 24, 2012

MACON, Ga. (CBS Atlanta/AP) – Authorities in Georgia say a grandmother foiled a robbery attempt by two armed men by getting into a shootout with them, injuring one man.
Police told The Telegraph that Lulu Campbell just dropped off her grandson at her daughter’s house early Saturday morning when someone demanded money outside her car, threatening to shoot her.
“(The suspect) shouted, ‘Give me the (blanking) money and open the (blanking) door!’” Campbell told The Telegraph, describing her ordeal. “I said, ‘Oh my God, somebody is going to rob me.’ I said, ‘Baby, you’re going to kill me anyway, so I don’t have to open it!’”
Campbell says the man fired at her, missing. The 57-year-old fired back, striking him in the chest. Her truck sustained eight bullet holes in the hood, one in the grill. Both front side windows were destroyed. The second man fled after she shot at him.  ...

Iraq’s Coming Civil War

The United States and the United Kingdom might be gone, but Barzani has managed to find a new ally in an unlikely place, Istanbul. Turkey has turned to Iraqi Kurds to check growing Iranian influence in Iraq.

Iraq’s Coming Civil War | FrontPage Magazine
Daniel Greenfield On April 25, 2012

As the Obama Administration tries to hammer together an American withdrawal from Afghanistan, the body count from his disastrous retreat from Iraq is swiftly rising. Last week alone there were fourteen car bombings orchestrated by Al-Qaeda in Iraq, whose goal has always been a civil war between Shiites and Sunnis. The bombings, which received only light coverage in a media unwilling to talk about anything that might show their candidate in a bad light, are only one of the fracture points.
A united Iraq died a few days after the withdrawal. The only people who still believe in the fiction of a centrally governed Iraq are holding down desks in the State Department. There are several Iraqs now. There is Iran’s Iraq, the one overseen by Tehran’s puppet in Baghdad, Prime Minister Maliki. Then there is Iraqi Kurdistan which stands on the verge of declaring its independence, an act that will touch off a violent territorial dispute accompanied by ethnic cleansing.
Iraqi federalism is only popular among some in the Shiite majority, for whom it means majority rule. Maliki’s warrant for Sunni Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi and the latter’s subsequent flight and sanctuary in Iraqi Kurdistan has ended the fiction of joint rule in Iraq. The Kurds have branded Maliki a dictator and are swiftly breaking their remaining ties to Baghdad.
President  Barzani of Iraqi Kurdistan declared that, “Power-sharing and partnership between Kurds, Sunni and Shiite Arabs, and others is now completely non-existent and has become meaningless” and concluded his speech by hinting at an independence referendum, a move almost certain to touch off a violent conflict, particularly in oil rich Kirkuk.
For now it’s a countdown to the inevitable. Barzani has been conducting a diplomatic tour to line up support for the next phase. As has Tariq al-Hashemi. Facing a Shiite majority and Maliki’s consolidation of power, they need all the domestic and international support that they can get. Western troops have left leaving behind a power vacuum that Iran is swiftly filling up.
Obama’s recent meeting with Barzani was typical of the empty discussions that have taken place since the withdrawal.

The Pogo President- "the Enemy is US"- Obama administration announces ‘War on Terror’ is over

Fooled Ya! War on terror over? Oh come now.

But no, of course.
The police state is not about stopping terror, it’s about promoting it

» Obama administration announces ‘War on Terror’ is over Alex Jones' Infowars: There's a war on for your mind!

Mike Adams  Natural News  April 24, 2012
In an astonishing bit of unexpected news, a senior State Department official has announced, “The war on terror is over.” This stems from the idea, reports the National Journal, that, “it is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists.”
The same official continues, “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.”
This is great news, isn’t it? If the “War on Terror” is over, then we can repeal and reverse all the ridiculous police state laws that were put in place to protect us from terrorism… right?
I mean, can we now fire the TSA? They were only put in place after the “terror” attacks on 9/11. If the war on terror is over, the TSA is no longer needed (even if you assume they were effective at all, which they weren’t).
Can we now repeal the Patriot Act which was passed out of an urgency to defend America from terrorists?

How about English as the one official language and stop treating the Mexicans, who want to assimilate, as if they were too dumb to learn it. No other immigrant group is condescended to as much.

The UN is United against the US and its allies - UNESCO Romances Riyadh

We have to send the UN packing. It is the enemy on our shores!

The Rosett Report » UNESCO Romances Riyadh

By Claudia Rosett On April 23, 2012 [full short post]
As if any more reasons were needed for the U.S. to pull out of UNESCO altogether,  it appears that UNESCO [1] Director-General Irina Bokova is now celebrating Saudi Arabia as an exemplar of “dialogue” and “building a culture of peace [2].” Bokova has just dropped in on Riyadh, where — according to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) [3] — she decorated the Saudi king with a gold medal, which KUNA describes as UNESCO’s “highest honorary recognition award.” Also in attendance, according to KUNA, were “elite of UNESCO’s ambassadors,” including envoys of  Germany, Brazil, Poland, France, and — now we get to the real UNESCO elite — “Palestine” and Zimbabwe.
I’m not yet sure  what to make of this report of a UNESCO gold medal bestowed by Bokova in Riyadh. On the UNESCO web site, I’m not seeing any mention of it — though perhaps such news will turn up. The UNESCO web site does, however, carry a series of reports on Bokova’s adventures these past few days in Saudi Arabia, including her praise of Saudi science lab [4]s, educational ambitions, and a miasma of UN jargon about peace, renewable this and sustainable that. And Saudi Arabia figures large right now at UNESCO. Bokova’s visit to Riyadh follows her opening last week of a three-day Saudi cultural event at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris [5].
All this follows Bokova’s lengthy visit in March to the U.S., part of a UNESCO self-advertising blitz in which Bokova has been campaigning for the U.S. to overturn its own law in order to restore the funding UNESCO lost last year due to its own folly [6] in admitting the Palestinian Authority despite warnings from the U.S., and a red light from the UN Security Council.
What’s the common denominator of Bokova’s visits to Saudi Arabia and the U.S.? How should we understand this romancing of both the democratic U.S. and repressive Saudi Arabia? What principle does UNESCO steer by?
These countries have one big thing in common: Pots of money. Bokova runs a UN organization substantially hostile to U.S. values and interests, headquartered in Paris and top-heavy with well-paid officials accustomed to fat perquisites, comfortable lifestyles, and often vague responsibilities. That takes a lot of money, and she appears to be pursuing that money, whatever it takes, and wherever it takes her. The best response for the U.S. would be to pull out of UNESCO entirely, wave good-bye (again [7]) and wish UNESCO’s director general and her flock of “elite” ambassadors a grand old time pursuing dialogue, peace and sustainable cash in Riyadh.

The compliant step-child - from Stalin to Hu Jintao - China’s “Precious Treasure”

Why make trouble for yourself when you have a pugnacious neighbor who is willing and happy to do it you double dealing and bad faith bidding?

The Rosett Report » China’s “Precious Treasure”
By Claudia Rosett On April 22, 2012 [full short post]

Wire services are reporting that China’s senior official for foreign policy, Dai Bingguo, was effusing Sunday about a relationship he described as China’s “precious treasure.”
What would that treasure be? Why, “The traditional friendship between China and North Korea,” which State Councilor Dai described to a visiting senior North Korean official, Kim Yong-il, as “a precious treasure for our two parties, two countries and our peoples.”
Lest that sound like some sort of ancient Asian bond, tracking back to the misty beginnings of recorded time, let us note that the two parties involved are both products of the 20th century’s monstrous romance with communism, each of these parties wielding monopoly rule over its respective “People’s Republic.” And the two People’s Republics concerned — the People’s Republic of China and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea — only came into being as such in the late 1940s. Whatever the deeper connections among the actual populations, what Dai was celebrating is a mutually reinforcing partnership of repression and mischief-making at the top, in which China’s regime supports North Korea’s, and North Korea’s regime makes trouble for democracies from South Korea to Japan to America to Israel (recall the nuclear reactor Syria was building with North Korean help, until the Israeli Air Force destroyed it in 2007).
Yes, China went along with the United Nations Security Council on April 16 in giving North Korea a harmless slap over its latest missile launch (the Security Council condemned, deplored, etc., but did nothing likely to stop the next North Korean missile launch, or nuclear test). But Dai laid it on thick this past Sunday in publicly assuring North Korea there are no hard feelings. Not only is the relationship apparently one of Beijing’s real gems, but, praising North Korea’s new tyrant, Kim Jong Un, Dai went on to assure his North Korean guest that “China is willing to work with North Korea to take friendly cooperation to new heights.”  (At any rate, that’s the Reuters translation [1] from the Chinese. The AFP translates the statement [2] as China planning to “push friendly and cooperative China-North Korean relations to a new level.” … Take your pick).
Just a little something to remember, next time Washington diplomats describe China as a valuable ally in dealing with North Korea.

Who Is ‘Racist’? Zimmerman as a “white Hispanic.” Zimmerman is half-white. So is Barack Obama.

The Half Crap Continues!

Who Is ‘Racist’? | FrontPage Magazine

By Thomas Sowell On April 24, 2012
Whatever the ultimate outcome of the case against George Zimmerman for his shooting of Trayvon Martin, what has happened already is enough to turn the stomach of anyone who believes in either truth or justice.
An amazing proportion of the media has given us a painful demonstration of the thinking — and lack of thinking — that prevailed back in the days of the old Jim Crow South, where complexion counted more than facts in determining how people were treated.
One of the first things presented in the media was a transcript of a conversation between George Zimmerman and a police dispatcher. The last line in most of the transcripts shown on TV was that of the police dispatcher telling Zimmerman not to continue following Trayvon Martin.
That became the basis of many media criticisms of Zimmerman for continuing to follow him. Only later did I see a transcript of that conversation on the Sean Hannity program that included Zimmerman’s reply to the police dispatcher: “O.K.”
That reply removed the only basis for assuming that Zimmerman did in fact continue to follow Trayvon Martin. At this point, neither I nor the people who assumed that he continued to follow the teenager have any basis in fact for believing that he did or didn’t.
Why was that reply edited out by so many in the media? Because too many people in the media see their role as filtering and slanting the news to fit their own vision of the world. The issue is not one of being “fair” to “both sides” but, more fundamentally, of being honest with their audience.
NBC News carried the editing even further, removing one of the police dispatcher’s questions, to which Zimmerman was responding, in order to feed the vision of Zimmerman as a racist.
In the same vein were the repeated references to Zimmerman as a “white Hispanic.” Zimmerman is half-white. So is Barack Obama. But does anyone refer to Obama as a “white African”?

Government Help, Not! Newark restaurants: Nets' business impact ‘pretty much none'

Politicians promised business grow and revitalization of the downtown in Newark. The y promised the same in Baltimore. It worked for a couple of years in Baltimore, that is until Cal Ripken passed Lou Gehrig's consecutive games played record and retired. Then it reverted to its former business ghost town. Newark had no Cal Ripken. The only businesses to prosper were the crony sports owner who make the proceeds off their teems and don't have to pay for the sport's venue like Camden Yards in Baltimore or the Prudential Center in Newark.
Government saves its own buddies and leave the towns it ruined to remain in ruins. m/r

Newark restaurants: Nets' business impact ‘pretty much none' | NJBIZ
By Katie Eder 4-23-12

As the New Jersey Nets prepare for their final home game in the Garden State, business owners around the Prudential Center said they will not be missed.

"The impact the Nets had on my business was pretty much none," said Marc Brummer, co-owner of Hobby's Delicatessen & Restaurant, on Brandford Place. "They really left years ago, as far as we're concerned."

According to Brummer, Hobby's target customers are season-ticket holders, so the restaurant would open for business before Nets games during their first season in 2010. But Brummer said the Nets lost their season-ticket holder base this year, so he only opens up shop before New Jersey Devils games and select events.

"Even though it's the last game, we're not gonna be open tonight, because we haven't been," Brummer said. "We'll be open for (BruceSpringsteen, though."

Carlos Franceschi, general manager of Uber Burger — on Lafayette Street, just outside the Prudential Center — said he has anticipated declines in business during Nets games since the start of the 2011 season.

Culture — Not Race — Determines Many Crime Stats

If you know Los Angeles neighborhoods, USC is in the "hood" and UCLA is not:
there have been 117 homicides within two miles of the USC campus but only seven near UCLA.

PJ Media » Culture — Not Race — Determines Many Crime Stats

Gentle readers, we are about to sail into dangerous waters, on the rocky shoals of which John Derbyshire recently ran aground and got himself sacked from National Review. So we must do our best to steer carefully through the many hazards lest we come to a similar fate. Yes, I say “we” because while I, in opining as I am about to on race and crime, may risk losing commercial opportunities as a writer, you the reader face risks as well. If you travel in those circles in which discussions of race are limited to extolling the many glories of “diversity,” and if after reading what follows below you are found by your peers to be insufficiently condemnatory of me and what I’ve written, you are in jeopardy of being ostracized to a life of social exile among the wretched and unenlightened.
You’ve been warned, so here we go.
I’ve been with the Los Angeles Police Department for somewhere in the neighborhood of thirty years. (I keep the details of my tenure and assignment vague so as to foil the efforts of those seeking to unmask me, the number of whom may soon increase.) I’ve spent the better part of my career working in neighborhoods in South and South Central Los Angeles, i.e. those most bedeviled by violent crime. I have also spent time working in some of L.A.’s most affluent neighborhoods, so I feel qualified to comment on the differences I’ve observed over the course of a long career combating crime and villainy in America’s second-largest city.

For the record, I concur with Mark Steyn, who in his discussion of the Taki’s Magazine piece that got John Derbyshire expelled fromNational Review, pointed to culture rather than racial determinism as explaining socioeconomic differences between groups of people. “Why is Haiti Haiti and Barbados Barbados?” Steyn asks. “Why is India India and Pakistan Pakistan? Skin color and biological determinism don’t get you very far on that.”
A similar comparison – with similarly stark results – can be made in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times maintains a database of statistical information on cities and neighborhoods across L.A. County. The communities of View Park-Windsor Hills andBaldwin Hills-Crenshaw are adjacent to one another in an area four to five miles northeast of Los Angeles International Airport. The concentration of black residents in View Park-Windsor Hills, at 86.5 percent, is the highest of any area measured in the L.A. Timesdatabase. The Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw neighborhood, just to the north, is home to the county’s fifth-highest concentration of blacks, at 71.3 percent.

Workers of the World, You Dopes - Barone: 'Green jobs' a dubious path to the future

Like Blacks and Latins, the Democrat Politicians take Union Workers for granted and treat them as if they were too dumb to vote as individuals or take care of themselves. So why do Blacks, Latins and Union Workers continue to support the Democrat Politicians who treat them with patronizing syrupy contempt? m/r

Barone: 'Green jobs' a dubious path to the future | Campaign 2012 | Washington Examiner

by Michael Barone 4-22-12

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen liberal commentators look back with nostalgia to the days when a young man fresh out of high school or military service could get a well-paying job on an assembly line at a unionized auto factory that could carry him through to a comfortable retirement.

As it happens, I grew up in Detroit and for a time lived next door to factory workers. And I know something that has eluded the liberal nostalgiacs. Which is that people hated those jobs.

The assembly line work was boring and repetitive. That’s because management imbibed Frederick W. Taylor’s theories that workers were stupid and could not be trusted with any initiative.

It was also because the United Auto Workers’ contract’s thousands of pages of work rules, which forbade assembly.

Hypocrite At Holocaust Museum, Obama challenged over Israel policy

At Holocaust Museum, Obama challenged over Israel policy - Washington Times
Bave Boyer 4-23-12
-

“It’s a bitter truth,” Mr. Obama said after touring the museum with Holocaust survivor and authorElie Wiesel. “Too often the world has failed to prevent the killing of innocents on a massive scale, and we are haunted by the atrocities that we did not stop and the lives we did not save.”
In introducing the president to a crowd at the museum, Mr. Wieselchallenged Mr. Obama over the administration’s handling of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He wondered aloud why world leaders have not “learned anything” from the Holocaust.
“How is it that Assad is still in power?” said Mr. Wiesel. “How is it that the Holocaust’s No. 1 denier, Ahmadinejad, is still a president? He who threatens to use nuclear weapons — to use nuclear weapons — to destroy the Jewish state. We must know that when evil has power, it is almost too late.”

Michelle Obama Behind Attack on Ann Romney

Oh!, Michelle Obama's Behind!

National Enquirer: Michelle Obama Behind Attack on Ann Romney - By Greg Pollowitz - Media Blog - National Review Online
4-21-12 -full shoert post-

Enquiring minds want to know!
Political sources revealed to The ENQUIRER that MICHELLE OBAMA brain-stormed the scheme to sic a pit bull strategist on the GOP contender’s wife ANN ROMNEY and it backfired!
Talking head Hilary Rosen set off a firestorm when she mocked Mitt Romney for relying on his wife for advice on the economy, sniping that Ann – who raised five five, has battled breast cancer and suffers from multiple sclerosis – “never worked a day in her life!”
Rosen was forced to apologize, saying her words were “poorly chosen.” Even President Obama got into the act, saying there’s “no tougher job than being a mom.”
A publicly sympathetic Michelle, 48, tapped out a message on Teitter, writing: “Every mother works hard, and every woman deserves to be respected.” But behind the scenes, her fingerprints were all over the scandal, said an inside source.
“Michelle had her claws out to get Ann, but it quickly backfired and Barack was livid when he heard she had secretly directed the attack,” said the source.
“What Michelle didn’t remember was that when Barack was running for president, he told ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ that it was unfair to attack Michelle, saying his wife was off limits. Here they were, however, doing the same thing to Romney’s wife four years later.
“But even though Michelle was the instigator, the political grenade blew up in the president’s face.”
The White House also caught heat when it was revealed Rosen had been a guest there 35 times – three times more often than Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
The rest here.
