Obama has dangerously surrendered the nation’s global leadership, but it can be ours again—if we choose his successor wisely.
Born of the revolutionary ideal that we are “endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights,” we were, first, an example to the world of freedom’s possibilities. During World War II, we became freedom’s defender, at the end of the Cold War, the world’s sole superpower. We did not seek the position. It is ours because of our ideals and our power, and the power of our ideals. As British historian Andrew Roberts has observed, “In the debate over whether America was born great, achieved greatness or had greatness thrust upon her, the only possible conclusion must be: all three.”
No other nation, international body or “community of nations” can do what we do. It isn’t just our involvement in world events that has been essential for the triumph of freedom. It is our leadership. For the better part of a century, security and freedom for millions of people around the globe have depended on America’s military, economic, political and diplomatic might. For the most part, until the administration of Barack Obama, we delivered.

Senators Slippery on Iran Deal | The American Spectator
"The Obama administration is utterly out of control. Claude Wayne Crews of the Competitive Enterprise Institute notes that no one knows how many federal agencies boss Americans around. FOIA.gov lists 252 such bureaucracies. The Federal Register counts 257. The United States Government Manual cites 316."Obama Administration & Big Government, Over-regulation | National Review Online
by DEROY MURDOCK August 28, 2015
‘Everything, all the time.” That’s how the Eagles once described life in the fast lane. Those words now epitomize Big Government in the Obama era.
Obama maintains a southern “border” that deserves those sneer quotes. He let cyber attackers seize the personnel records of some 22 million federal workers. And in his spectacularly dysfunctional Veterans Affairs system, combat vets literally drop dead waiting for medical care while corrupt staffers shred patients’ files to cover up their toxic incompetence and lassitude.
Despite this mind-blowing incapacity to perform core functions, Obama’s minions stay busy, busy, busy doing everything, all the time, everywhere else. Consider these examples of their micro-mismanagement: ...
... The federal dishwasher police recently chopped allowable water use from five gallons per cycle to 3.1, a 52 percent reduction. “Manufacturers cannot compensate for less water by pumping the water through higher-pressure nozzles because the energy use is also restricted,” former U.S. representative Ernest Istook (R., Okla.) explained in the Washington Times. “The 2012 regulation reduced energy usage to 307 kilowatt-hours per year for a standard washer. The 2015 proposal drops that to 234 kWh/year.” Despite the DOE’s 24 percent energy cut, consumers could wind up using more power, as they re-run machines to scour not-quite-clean dishes. They also would be likely to use more water to pre-rinse dishes destined for politically correct, but emasculated, dishwashers. ...

There is nothing worth reading in American newspapers and they entirely deserve to go out of business. An old editor of mine in Fleet Street liked to emphasize the importance of what she called a "f**k-me headline". In the United States, if a story does not fit their ideological needs, the media prefer a sedate-me headline. From The New York Times:

What Passes for Scholarship These Days by William H. Sousa, City Journal August 25, 2015
By way of background, Broken Windows is a policing tactic that emphasizes the police management of minor offenses. The authors of the Broken Windows hypothesis—George L. Kelling and the late James Q. Wilson—always maintained that Broken Windows policing should encourage proper discretion on the part of officers. Kelling in particular has discussed the importance of discretion when it comes to maintaining order, as in a recent article in Politico, where he indicates that arrest should be the last option when managing minor offenses.
Recent events in American cities have led Broken Windows critics to suggest an unfortunate link between the tactic and high arrest rates. In the Huffington Post, Harcourt rejects Kelling’s claim that Broken Windows was never meant to be a high-arrest strategy. As evidence, Harcourt cites a research report on NYPD policing written in 2001, in which Kelling and I use misdemeanor arrests as a proxy variable for disorder management. For Harcourt, our use of this variable is undeniable proof that Kelling calls for a high number of arrests as part of a Broken Windows policing strategy.
What Harcourt fails to mention, however, is that we use misdemeanor arrests for the specific purpose of that report’s quantitative analyses. ...

Immigration Fact-Book Author, Ann Coulter, Introduces Donald Trump At Iowa Speech: "I Feel Like I'm Dreaming... The Great Wall Of Trump!"
"But in this one snapshot — the Jeb Bush unwillingness to go into the lion’s den of one of his staunchest critics — it says everything you need to know about why he is doing so poorly in this campaign.Jeb Bush Silent on Mark Levin’s Challenge | The American Spectator
More to the point, it says everything you need to know about why the GOP Establishment and their consultants keep losing presidential campaigns."
By Jeffrey Lord – 8.25.15
Timid Establishment favorite shows why Trump leads.
“Why does baloney reject the meat grinder?” So answered William F. Buckley, Jr. when he was asked why the most popular Democrat of 1967 — New York Senator Robert F. Kennedy — refused to come on Buckley’s television show Firing Line to discuss the issues of the day.
The Buckley remark comes to mind as former Florida Governor Jeb Bush — the GOP Establishment favorite in the presidential race — is silent as a church mouse in response to an on-air challenge from Mark Levin to appear on Mark’s radio show for a discussion of birthright citizenship.
Bush has been out there defending “birthright citizenship.” ...
OK. Fair enough. That’s the Bush position. It also happens to be the position of our friends at the Wall Street Journal.
Mark Levin, a considerable student of the Constitution, quickly and publicly challenged Bush to come on his show to discuss the issue. Thus far, Bush has refused by simply ignoring the invitation altogether. Reminding, of course, of Bill Buckley’s remark about Bobby Kennedy: “Why does baloney reject the meat grinder?”
Mark appeared on Sean Hannity’s TV show the other night (hat tip to Breitbart) and said this of those who are, like Bush, making the 14th Amendment say something it doesn’t say:
