July 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) To mark the occasion of the Independence Day, the researchers of the United States Library of Congress have come forward with a revelation that provides new light to the perspective of Thomas Jefferson who was not only the third President of United States but also the lead author of the Declaration of Independence.

The blur of ink in the draft of the Declaration of Independence that has been a matter of curiosity and research for many generations of historians has ultimately been solved. Reports claim that scientists have been able to find out what the late President wrote first, before he struck it off to replace it with the word “citizen”.

Scientists had put to use hyper-spectral imaging technique that examines the writing in the draft with different wavelengths of light and have been able to decipher that the late former President of United States had crossed out the word “subjects” and replaced it with the word “citizens”. Writing in ink, Thomas Jefferson had wiped the word while it was still wet and then replaced it with “citizen”.

Fenella France who studied the original draft of the Declaration of Independence said to a media source that she exposed the writing to a band of light that went from ultraviolet to visible spectrum to the infrared and found that in each instance that was recorded by a 39-megapixel camera the writing hinted that something was hidden under the word “citizens”. She added that the task to decipher the word was difficult as the ink colors were similar. However, as it has now been deciphered, many historians believe that the change of word had redefined the American colonists.
