Why the Persistent "Never Trumpers"? Is there some hidden force that energizes and funds it?

Outwardly, Trump is brash and over the top. That's what was needed to win. The old boy, GOP, Country Club, "low energy" Republicans, who refused to dirty their hands, weren't cutting it.
But their seems to be some deep insidious force that has latched onto the prominent GOP political class. It is always anti-Trump. The old boy Republican Congressmen are, for the most part, suppressing it for the time being. Their need is to be re-elected, but the beltway punditry are another, inexplicable story. What gives with their persistence in wanting to continue down their, well worn, losing path. m/r
