DEP opens bidding for golf course management

These two golf courses, Cream Ridge (143-acres) and White Oaks (106-acres), are owned by the New Jersey Dept. of Environmental Protection.
Do these two government properties owned by the DEP reveal what is wrong with government over involvement into where it doesn't belong in over regulation, misuse of funds and over spending?

Both Cream Ridge Golf Course, in the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold, and White Oaks Golf Course, in Newfield, have contracts with their current operators that will expire at the end of the year.

"Using businesses with experience in the golf industry ensures that our golf courses are managed in a cost-effective, professional manner," said Amy Cradic, assistant DEP commissioner, in a released statement. "Having professionals run these golf operations also is likely to enhance revenue-generating opportunities that benefit the state."

The cost of operating a course includes paying the state an annual fee, which increases every year by 3 percent, plus a percentage of gross revenue earned. According to financial statements, Cream Ridge took in more than $900,000 in revenue in each of the previous three years. ...

...Both courses were acquired by the DEP in 2006 through the Green Acres program. The state also owns Spring Meadow Golf Club, in Farmingdale, and Centerton Golf Course, in Pittsgrove's Parvin State Park.
