"Media is Distorting Trump's Words on Phone Call" - Gold Star Father SCHOOLS CNN Alisyn Camerota
A Gold Star FatheCNN Alisyn Camerota said he believed that President Donald Trump’s recent comments to the widow of a slain U.S. serviceman are being framed to make the president look uncaring, when nothing could be further from the truth.

Speaking with CNN host Alisyn Camerota on Wednesday, Craig Gross said Trump’s “words are basically being taken and misconstrued.”

“President Trump is doing a lot of good things as far as Gold Star families are concerned,” said Gross, whose son, Army Cpl. Frank Robert Gross, was killed in Afghanistan in 2011.
“I believe that if you interviewed him personally, one on one, you would find that he is very, very empathetic and very compassionate, not only toward Gold Star families but also in regards to our active duty.”

Gross’s comments came in the wake of the media firestorm that erupted after Rep. Frederica Wilson, a Florida Democrat, said she overheard a phone conversation between Trump and the widow of Army Sgt. La David Johnson during which the president said, “He knew what he signed up for, but I guess it still hurt.”

Johnson was killed during an ambush in Niger on Oct. 4.
