Petraeus Condemns U.S. Church's Plan to Burn Qurans - WSJ.com

Burning the Koran is a 1st Amendment Right!
It may be a legal right, just as the Cordoba Mosque near Ground Zero is a Right, but simply put, both are just plain Rude!

General Patraeus is mostly, and correctly concerned for the lives of his troops. He is not in anyway wrong because of his responsibility to his command.

The issue here, however, is book burning. The Koran has been interpreted in despicable ways, including the conquest and killing of all infidels. The erection of the Ground Zero Mosque is part of that Islamic interpretation signifying a conquest. It is staking out territory, the way a dog raises a leg.

Book burning, in this case is not going to change any of fundamentalist Islam and its murderous teachings. It will just make them madder. These are the same flames that kindled Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge, Stalin's Show Trials, Nuremberg Rallies, Mao's Cultural Revolution.

Burning books doesn't turn thoughts or words to ash, it brands them into minds.
