ACLU Complains: "Trump Used the Word 'America' More Than 80 Times"

(CNSNews.com) - The American Civil Liberties Union -- note the word "American" in its title -- complained Tuesday night about President Trump's repeated use of the word "America" in his State of the Union speech.

In a written response to Trump's speech, Faiz Shakir, the ACLU's national political director, said:

Tonight, President Trump said the word ‘America’ more than 80 times in his speech. Yet, after a divisive first year, we hear and feel how exclusionary that ‘America’ is, with policies that have harmed so many vulnerable American communities. The ACLU stands ready to protect these communities, both in the courts and at the polls.

In particular, the immigration plan put forth by Trump would hold Dreamers hostage to his demands for a harmful border wall and an even larger mass deportation force. We are at this crossroads because of the President’s deeply destructive ideas fomented by his nativist allies and divisive rhetoric. We will continue to stand up for these young immigrants and ensure they continue to contribute to our country. We cannot let America’s Dreamers be deported.

If you’re passing through downtown Los Angeles in the coming days, be warned of increased danger. I’m not talking about the terrible traffic, the squalid conditions on Skid Row, or even the violent crime (aggravated assaults up 139 percent in 2018 over the same period last year). All of that is child’s play compared to the bloodbath about to break out at the intersection of First and Main Streets, which you would be wise to avoid until at least June.

And why is this intersection, with City Hall on one side of the street and LAPD headquarters on the other, so perilous? Because in both of these buildings, in the offices of their most powerful occupants, the long knives are being unsheathed for the coming frenzy of backstabbing and bloodletting.

Charlie Beck, chief of the LAPD for the last eight years, has announced his intent to retire in June, when he turns 65. And now all the people who will seek to replace him, along with their retinues of toadies, lackeys, and hangers-on, will soon set to the task of elevating their own status while tearing down the competition.

People unfamiliar with how police departments work may be surprised to learn there are three basic types of police officers: slugs, real cops and climbers. The slugs are those who are content to show up to work every day and collect their paychecks every other week while having little interest in exerting themselves in the cause of safer streets. They do the absolute minimum expected of them, and when some dangerous situation arises, if they’re found in the vicinity at all it will be as far away from the center of action as they can place themselves.

Real cops, who can be found in patrol, detectives, and in some non-administrative specialized units, are those who get down in the muck and mire of law enforcement that the slugs so assiduously avoid. They put their hearts into the work and take pride in bringing lawbreakers to justice. And, to the amazement of the slugs, they enjoy it.

The GOP disarms three more financial time bombs about to blow up your personal budget.

Lost in all the sound and fury that accompanied the recent shutdown of the federal government was some good news for Americans facing ever increasing health care costs. Part of the price paid by the Democrats to get out of the hole they dug for themselves when they forced the shutdown was the suspension of three onerous Obamacare taxes — the medical device tax, the tax on premium (Cadillac) health plans, and the health insurance (HIT) tax. All three were wildly unpopular with the voters, due to go into effect imminently, and would have made medical care even more expensive.

The 2.3 percent tax on medical devices, which went into effect on January 1, has long been billed by Obamacare advocates as a corporate tax. Like all taxes levied on corporations, however, it would have inevitably been passed on to the customer. And the customers affected by this particular excise tax are Americans who must have crucial medical devices such as pacemakers and artificial joints. Also impacted are the hospitals to which patients go to receive advanced tests involving MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, and X-rays. The cost of these tests would inevitably be increased by this tax.
Moreover, the medical device tax is a natural born job killer. This is not a matter of idle speculation. This excise tax has already been implemented and suspended once. It originally went into effect January 1, 2013, pursuant to the provisions of the “Affordable Care Act,” and bedeviled the medical device industry until Congress decided to suspend it at the end of 2015. During the two years the tax remained in effect, the manufacturers were frequently forced to choose between R & D and eliminating jobs. As Stephen L. Ferguson, the chairman of Cook Medical, wrote at the time:

For two years this tax has sapped value-added jobs and vitality from mature firms and start-ups alike, as it is applied whether a company has profits or not. Every 20 minutes, the equivalent of a $68,000-a-year job disappears from the balance sheet of a company in this sector. That’s the toll of a tax that claims $1.8 billion a year from our nation’s most innovative industry — the most recent estimate from the IRS.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican officials said on Sunday the government was set to unleash a new wave of troops to crack down on criminal groups in regions where a surge in violence led to more than 25,000 murders last year.

National Security Commissioner Renato Sales said federal police troops will work with local officials to round up known major criminals and bolster investigations.

The aim was "to recover peace and calm for all Mexicans," he said. He did not provide details on the number of federal police to be deployed.

More than 25,000 murders were recorded last year as rival drug gangs increasingly splintered into smaller, more blood-thirsty groups after more than a decade of a military-led campaign to battle the cartels.

During the financial crisis, the federal government bailed out banks it declared “too big to fail.” Fearing their bankruptcy might trigger economic Armageddon, the feds propped them up with taxpayer cash.
Something similar is happening now at the FBI, with the Washington wagons circling the agency to protect it from charges of corruption. This time, the appropriate tag line is “too big to believe.”
Yet each day brings credible reports suggesting there is a massive scandal involving the top ranks of America’s premier law enforcement agency. The reports, which feature talk among agents of a “secret society” and suddenly missing text messages, point to the existence both of a cabal dedicated to defeating Donald Trump in 2016 and of a plan to let Hillary Clinton skate free in the classified email probe.

If either one is true — and I believe both probably are — it would mean FBI leaders betrayed the nation by abusing their powers in a bid to pick the president.

A California Uber driver who happens to be an illegal alien from Mexico, has been charged with raping, robbing an assaulting at least four women.

Three out of the four women were on their way home from parties and were intoxicated, making it easier for the illegal alien to rape them.

Alfonso Alarcon-Nunez, 39, faces 10 criminal charges, including forcible rape, rape of an intoxicated victim, oral copulation of an intoxicated victim and first degree burglary. He was arrested at his home in Santa Maria on Wednesday.

San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow said Alarcon-Nunez was not always driving for Uber when he picked up those women but added that the alleged crimes show that the company should improve its driver screening process.
Prosecutors say Alarcon-Nunez targeted women who were on their way home from parties. After driving them home, investigators say he would assault the women and steal their property — including cell phones and jewelry.

The iconic actress slammed him in her speech accepting the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes, attacking him for, among other things, having allegedly mocked a disabled New York Times reporter during the campaign. The next morning, Hope Hicks, the president's loyal young assistant who was almost always by Trump's side, pulled out her phone to play footage of Kellyanne Conway on the CNN and Fox morning shows.

Kellyanne said that charge had been repeatedly refuted and added that if Streep were so concerned about the rights of the disabled, she should have spoken out about a disabled boy who had been badly beaten by young thugs shouting anti-Trump epithets in a video that had been posted on Facebook. Trump loved that answer and started venting about his media coverage.

Mexico says it regrets the United States' decision not to exclude it from tariffs on imported washing machines and solar panels.

It says it will "use all available legal resources in response to the U.S. decision." It says its inclusion in the application of protections is "regrettable" given the U.S. International Trade Commission determined no damage exists to U.S. industry as a consequence of imports of Mexican washing machines.

U.S. President Donald Trump says approving the tariffs will help U.S. manufacturers. The Republican casts Monday's decision as part of his pledge to put American companies and jobs first.

The veteran shock jock announced Monday that his long-running “Imus in the Morning” show will come to an end on March 29.
“March 29th, 2018, will be the last ‘Imus in the Morning Program.’ Turn out the lights…the party’s over,” the show’s Twitter account announced Monday morning.

Imus said on his show that his contract with syndicator Cumulas Media was slated to run out in December, but the company recently declared bankruptcy and told him it was going to stop paying him after March.

Hell must have frozen over last week. As of Sunday afternoon, Congressional Republicans are still standing firm in refusing to give Amnesty to illegal aliens without significant immigration patriot gains in return. And they’re even deploying smart messaging to argue for their resolute position.

The federal government officially shut down early Saturday after the Senate failed to agree on a spending bill, which Democrats insisted must include permanent legalization for a subset of illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as minors (and are now young adults).

Republican and Democratic leaders have gone back and forth on a legislative “fix” for the soon-to-be-defunct Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program ever since Congress came back for the New Year. But nearly every “bipartisan” proposal has proven to be terrible for immigration patriots.

The latest awful “compromise” was unveiled last Wednesday by Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL). What I Learned in the Peace Corps in Africa: Trump Is Right

Three weeks after college, I flew to Senegal, West Africa, to run a community center in a rural town.  Life was placid, with no danger, except to your health.  That danger was considerable, because it was, in the words of the Peace Corps doctor, "a fecalized environment."

In plain English: s--- is everywhere.  People defecate on the open ground, and the feces is blown with the dust – onto you, your clothes, your food, the water.  He warned us the first day of training: do not even touch water.  Human feces carries parasites that bore through your skin and cause organ failure.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that a few decades later, liberals would be pushing the lie that Western civilization is no better than a third-world country.  Or would teach two generations of our kids that loving your own culture and wanting to preserve it are racism.
Last time I was in Paris, I saw a beautiful African woman in a grand boubou have her child defecate on the sidewalk next to Notre Dame Cathedral.  The French police officer, ten steps from her, turned his head not to see.

WASHINGTON — There’s a ghost haunting Elizabeth Warren as she ramps up for a possible 2020 presidential bid and a reelection campaign in Massachusetts this year: her enduring and undocumented claims of Native American ancestry.
Warren says now, as she has from the first days of her public life, that she based her assertions on family lore, on her reasonable trust in what she was told about her ancestry as a child.
“I know who I am,” she said in a recent interview with the Globe.
But that self-awareness may not be enough, as her political ambitions blossom. She’s taken flak from the right for years as a “fake Indian,” including taunts from President Trump, who derisively calls her “Pocahontas.’’ That clamor from the right will only grow with her increasing prominence.
And, more telling, there’s also discomfort on the left and among some tribal leaders and activists that Warren has a political blind spot when it comes to the murkiness surrounding her story of her heritage, which blew up as an issue in her victorious 2012 Massachusetts Senate race. In recent months, Daily Show host Trevor Noahmockedher for claiming Native American ancestry and the liberal website ThinkProgress published a scathing criticism of her by a Cherokee activist who said she should apologize.

ACRAMENTO (CBS13) — An explosive day in the courtroom as opening statements began in the trial of Luis Bracamontes- the undocumented immigrant accused of killing two deputies in 2014.
A judge ordered the jury out of the room, during an outburst by the defendant as he admitted to murdering the peace officers. Bracamontes said there’s no need for a trial, but the judge ruled it will still go on.
“There was no need to prove all this s***,” Bracamontes said. “Be silent!” the judge yelled back.
“I want to f***ing plead to this,” the defendant responded.
As if the smiles and smirks coming from the accused cop killer’s face weren’t shocking enough, the outbursts from Luis Bracamontes stunned the courtroom, first calling one of his alleged victims a coward, before yelling expletives while describing the fact that he killed the officers and didn’t regret it. CAN you count backwards in sevens, draw a clock that reads 10 past 11 or memorise a list of five words?

These tasks may seem pretty basic but they make up questions in the world's standard cognitive assessment test, which Donald Trump passed with flying colors.

The President scored a perfect 100 per cent on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) - a 30 question task created by medical professionals to test for dementia.
It's designed to assess attention, memory, concentration, orientation, visual skills, calculations and executive functions.
To the able-minded, the test may seem overly simple but they are some of the basic mental processes people with the disorder sadly lose.

Trump's doctor earlier revealed how the president scored a perfect 30 on the test, where anything above 26 is considered "normal" and anything below is a cause for concern.

NAACP Says MLK’s Vision Can’t Be Achieved Without Fighting Global Warming

This Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the NAACP wants man-made global warming to be seen as a civil rights issue, arguing King’s vision of a society free of racial injustice can’t be achieved without addressing warming.
“We see climate change as a civil rights issue,” Jacqueline Patterson, head of the NAACP’s environmental and climate justice program, said in an online radio spot for the Yale Center for Environmental Connection.
Environmental activists have been increasingly framing global warming as a matter of “environmental justice,” since “minority and low-income populations are disproportionately affected by global warming,” Patterson told Yale’s online radio Climate Connections.
Traditionally, such concerns focused on traditional pollutants from factories or vehicles, but the NAACP is expanding it to carbon dioxide, which scientists blame for warming the Earth in recent decades.

Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor. That’s according to the Census Bureau’s Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income.

Given robust job growth and the prosperity generated by several industries, it’s worth asking why California has fallen behind, especially when the state’s per-capita GDP increased approximately twice as much as the U.S. average over the five years ending in 2016 (12.5%, compared with 6.27%).It’s not as though California policymakers have neglected to wage war on poverty. Sacramento and local governments have spent massive amounts in the cause. Several state and municipal benefit programs overlap with one another; in some cases, individuals with incomes 200% above the poverty line receive benefits. California state and local governments spent nearly $958 billion from 1992 through 2015 on public welfare programs, including cash-assistance payments, vendor payments and “other public welfare,” according to the Census Bureau. California, with 12% of the American population, is home today to about one in three of the nation’s welfare recipients.

Nothing scandalizes a leftist like the truth. Point out that women and men are different, that black Americans commit a disproportionate amount of violent crime, that most terrorist acts are committed by Muslims, and the Left leaps to its collective feet in openmouthed shock, like Margaret Dumont after a Groucho Marx wisecrack. This is racism! This is sexism! This is some sort of phobia! I’m shocked, shocked to find facts being spoken in polite company!
No one is really shocked, of course. This is simply a form of bullying. The Left has co-opted our good manners and our good will in order to silence our opposition to their bad policies. The idea is to make it seem impolite and immoral to mention the obvious.
The bullying is highly effective and very dangerous. In England, in the city of Rotherham, at least 1,400 non-Muslim girls, some as young as 11, were brutally raped by Muslim immigrants over a period of years in the 2000s. Police and other officials worked to keep the facts hidden because, according to multiple reports, they were afraid of being called racist. Think about that: police officers did not want to seem racist, so they stood by and let their city’s children be raped. The same thing goes on in other cities in England and throughout Europe. And in fact, some who have spoken out have had their careers curtailed by manufactured scandal. The message is clear: it’s just not nice to tell the truth. It’s just not done. Don’t do it.
Here in the states, the First Amendment has so far allowed old-fashioned American loudmouths to fight the system whenever they could find ways around our monolithic corporate media. But the Empire of Lies is quick to strike back. Google/YouTube now stands charged by multiple accusers of singling out conservative voices for censorship, “fact-checking,” and demonetization. Hidden-camera videos released by Project Veritas this week show Twitter employees conspiring to “shadow ban” conservatives on their system. On campus, intelligent conservative speakers of good will like Ben Shapiro, Charles Murray, and Cristina Hoff-Somers have faced violent protests meant to shut them up.
No person of importance on the right seeks to silence anyone on the left. The Left, on the other hand, is broadly committed to ostracizing, blacklisting, and even criminalizing right-wing speech.

Back in 1983, Meldrim Thomson Jr., the former governor of New Hampshire and a big supporter of Ronald Reagan’s 1980 presidential campaign, wrote a letter to then-President Reagan imploring him to veto the legislation establishing the holiday. Thomson denounced King as a man “of immoral character whose frequent associations with leading agents of communism is well established”. [ Honoring the King Myth , by John McManus, The New American, January 4, 1999]  Reagan responded, essentially conceding Thomson’s point but saying King’s image had become more important than reality:

On the national holiday you mentioned, I have the reservations you have, but here the perception of too many people is based on an image, not reality. Indeed to them, the perception is reality.

Trump’s Immigration Remarks Outrage Many, but Others Quietly Agree

LONDON — The Czech president has called Muslim immigrants criminals. The head of Poland’s governing party has said refugees are riddled with disease. The leader of Hungary has described migrants as a poison.

This week, Austria’s new far-right interior minister suggested “concentrating” migrants in asylum centers — with all its obvious and odious echoes of World War II.

So when President Trump said he did not want immigrants from “shithole” countries, there was ringing silence across broad parts of the European Union, especially in the east, and certainly no chorus of condemnation.

In fact, some analysts saw the remarks as fitting a pattern of crude, dehumanizing and racist language to describe migrants and asylum seekers that has steadily edged its way into the mainstream. Coming from the White House, such words may be taken by some as a broader signal that racism is now an acceptable part of political discourse.

Top 10 Shi*holes Nobody Wants to Visit

Unnamed sources are once again claiming president Trump said outrageous things, including calling Haiti and parts of Africa "shi*holes." No one is sure this actually happened, but it sounds true, so the Washington Post ran with it. But it brings up an interesting point. Are we allowed to point out that there are places in the world that are not ideal, or are we pretending all countries are equal? This seems demonstrably ridiculous, yet the left is acting super-offended at the suggestion that some countries are shi*hole-ish.

1. Haiti

A quick search of Haitian vacations found that a person could have a full week in Haiti for $600, airfare included. If that isn't a screaming red flag, I don't know what is. The reason it's so cheap is that you have a high likelihood of never returning. If you don't get murdered, you will probably get a disease.

Major infectious diseases:  degree of risk: very high

Food or waterborne diseases: bacterial and protozoal diarrhea, hepatitis A and E, and typhoid fever

Vectorborne diseases: dengue fever and malaria

Haiti pretty much shows up in the dictionary under "shi*hole."

2. Anywhere ending in "-stan" (or Iran)

Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and all the other stans are not for me. If you don't get stoned to death by the modesty police, you get dragged away in the middle of the night by secret police for some offense against whatever shi*head is running the shi*hole. No thanks. I'll stay out of the stans.

3. Tecoman, Mexico

The New York Times admitted that this place is a shi*hole.

Trump Alarms Lawmakers With Disparaging Words for Haiti and Africa

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Thursday balked at an immigration deal that would include protections for people from Haiti and African countries, demanding to know at a White House meeting why he should accept immigrants from “shithole countries” rather than people from places like Norway, according to people with direct knowledge of the conversation.

Mr. Trump’s remarks left members of Congress attending the meeting in the Cabinet Room alarmed and mystified. They were there discussing an emerging bipartisan deal to give legal status to immigrants illegally brought to the United States as children, the people said, speaking on condition of anonymity without authorization to discuss the explosive proceedings of the private meeting.

When Mr. Trump heard that Haitians were among those who would benefit, he asked if they could be left out of the plan, according to the people familiar with the conversation, asking, “Why do we want people from Haiti here?”
