Coulter Vs. Farah on Red Eye: Will the Real American Values Stand Up?

Ann Coulter is smart and witty. She does not suffer fools lightly nor allow falsities to pass unchallenged. Of the people I have met, Ann Coulter was one of the people I found to be most gracious. Her sensibilities are marked by kindness and courtesy. That is part of her charm and good taste. He speaking before Homocon is a reflection of her grace. [Mooserider]

Coulter Vs. Farah on Red Eye: Will the Real American Values Stand Up? | NewsReal Blog

Coulter is the keynoie speakerat this year’s “Homocon,” a convention by and for gay conservatives sponsored by GOProud. WND CEO, Joseph Farah, isn’t happy about it. After “painful deliberation,” Farah uninvited Coulter from speaking at a conference as she is, he claims, clearly legitimizing the radical gay agenda undermining American values.

“Red Eye” token leftist, Bill Schulz, made the obligatory “WND are all closet cases” remark, thus fulfilling his duty and allowing me to place another checkmark on my politically correct buzzword bingo scorecard. Similarly, Hill took the occasion to mention how white Republicans don’t believe in dinosaurs. This is patently false. Conservatives talk about Barney Frank all the time!

Finally, Coulter chimed in

But none of you are mentioning any of the relevant facts. A) This Ann Coulter of whom you speak was never booked for a speech at WorldNetDaily. Point two: These were private e-mails this Ann Coulter sent to the person you mentioned who then published them, I think, for publicity. Three: He’s [Farah] pushing the birther thing and this is not a conservative issue Marc Lamont Hill. I’m sorry it was disproved to begin with by American Spectator, Human Events, Sweetness and Light. No conservative believes in it. Either someone who wants to get hits for his website may promote it, and point 4, I know lots of my fellow evangelicals. As I’ve mentioned before I’m not friends with anyone who is not, I mean, evangelical, white, and female. Um, and they all think it’s fantastic. [speaking at Homocon] This is not a Christian complaint so don’t start blaming the Christians. Those are fake Christians trying to getpublicity.

Coulter’s statements regarding private emails pertain to an article posted on WND, where Farah and Coulter are both quoted.

I’m not going to jump on the “fake Christian” bandwagon. Neither Christians nor conservatives are homogenous groups, so there’s no reason to attempt to portray either as having the same opinions on all issues.

But Joseph Farah, by his own admission, is not a conservative. WND does not represent real conservative values. It represents the belief that a doctrine of sin and a particular interpretation of the Bible emphasizing the words of St. Paul should subvert the Constitution and the freedoms the founding fathers believed were inalienable.

It has become my duty to speak out against the erosion of Constitutional liberties and American values. This usually puts me on the same side as 95% of all Christians, but it will never put me on the same side as religious radicals such as Farah. While I can respect Farah as a person, and value his contributions to society, I can’t and won’t condone his political motivations and intentions.

As Dante Alighieri eloquently wrote

Mankind is at its best when it is most free. This will be clear if we grasp the principle of liberty. We must recall that the basic principle is freedom of choice, which saying many have on their lips but few in their minds.

This, too, was the belief of the founding fathers. I stand firmly with them. Therefore, I stand with Ann Coulter who, while she may not agree with gay conservatives on all issues, clearly understands who the defenders of liberty truly are. Hint: it’s not Joseph Farah.
