The U.S. Federal Communications Commission voted along party lines on Thursday to repeal landmark 2015 rules that intended to ensure a free and open Internet, as protesters gather to oppose the change.

The 3-2 ruling sets up a court fight over a move that opponents fear will recast the digital landscape.

The meeting was evacuated before the vote for about 10 minutes on the basis of what Commission Chairman Ajit Pai called 'advice from security,' and resumed after sniffer dogs checked the building.

An FCC official told DailyMail.com that police had concerns after a bomb threat was phoned in.

LAPD probing new sex assault accusation against Roman Polanski, though the case can't be prosecuted

The Los Angeles Police Department said it is investigating allegations that director Roman Polanski in 1975 molested a child when she was 10, even though the case cannot be prosecuted because the statute of limitations has expired.
Josh Rubenstein, the LAPD communications director, said the department is committed to investigating such claims because even if charges cannot be brought, the evidence could aid in the prosecution of other cases.
Over the years, at least six women have accused Polanski of sexually abusing them, with most of them saying the abuse happened when they were minors. Despite the Paris-based director’s status as a fugitive and repeated efforts to get him back by prosecutors, he remains active in the film industry and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The latest LAPD report involves Marianne Barnard, an artist who has accused the director of molesting her during a 1975 photo shot at Will Rogers State Beach after he had her pose naked with a fur coat. Barnard reported the allegation to police in October.

Gregg Jarrett: Robert Mueller and his politically biased team of prosecutors need to go

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has sabotaged his own investigation of Russian meddling into the 2016 election. He has only himself to blame for ruining what could have been a credible probe.   

As I will document below, Mueller deliberately assembled a team of partisans with a history of political bias who appear determined to undo the results of the 2016 presidential election and drive President Trump from office.  

Because Mueller improperly stacked the deck of his special counsel staff with biased crusaders, he transformed what was supposed to be an impartial investigation into an illegitimate and seemingly corrupt one.   
To restore integrity, Attorney General Jeff Sessions should un-recuse himself from the case for the limited purpose of cleaning up Mueller’s mess. There is no law that prevents the attorney general from doing this.
Sessions should remove all of the partisans on the special counsel staff and replace Mueller with someone who can bring a measure of neutrality and objectivity to the matter. This is vital as a matter of justice and simple fairness, and would give Americans trust and confidence in the outcome of the investigation.

Time to Get CNN Out of the Airports, etc.

With minor exceptions, almost everywhere one goes that is a public facility like airports, bus and railroad stations, as well as most private venues like the lobbies of banks and corporate towers and even bars and restaurants, CNN is the default cable news network hanging Big Brother-like on the wall for all to see and believe. Often it is blaring at us in elevators.

This is true even though in terms of voluntary home viewership CNN trails massively behind Fox News and even the less popular MSNBC.  It's clear from years of ratings, the people, by and large and consistently, don't want to watch CNN. Nevertheless, they are force fed the network's vision of the world as they sit stupefied in airport lounges waiting endlessly for a delayed flight. It's like having your brains drilled.

This has been going on for decades.  Why?

The best you can say for CNN is that, as the initiator of 24/7 cable news, the network has a first-mover advantage, but that advantage has been perpetuated and protected by a big lie.

And that lie is that CNN  is the true purveyor of impartial news.  MSNBC is on the left.  Fox is on the right. But good old CNN gives you the straight story.

Nothing could be more ludicrous.

Our President stepped up to that, took a swing at it, and hit it out of the park. Tweet from him, tweet:

Congressman: DREAM Act Allowing ‘Chain Migration’ Would be ‘Nightmare Scenario’

WASHINGTON – Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, predicted that Congress would pass a “fix” to protect beneficiaries under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that President Trump rescinded.

Democrats in Congress are calling for a passage of a DREAM Act that offers a path to citizenship for existing DACA recipients and other undocumented immigrants who were brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

Rep. Dave Brat (R-Va.) said the passage of a clean DREAM Act in the GOP-controlled Congress that does not outlaw “chain migration” would lead to a “nightmare scenario.”

“If you just do the DACA [fix], right, that’s 700,000-plus; chain [migration] attached to it is 3 to 4 million [people], according to most estimates. And then the Democrats are talking about DREAMers, and that’s 3 to 4 million – and then with chain, that’s 11 or 12 million, right, and that’s a permanent in,” Brat said during a “Conversations with Conservatives” event on Capitol Hill last week.

“So I’ve worked at the World Bank and I’ve worked on world poverty issues and economics for all my life,” he added. “We want to help everyone in the world, but also you have to design policy that’s good for your own country.”
