Information Overload on Steroids Going Nowhere - Think Tanks

Have you ever joined a Think Tank, especially a Washington Think Tank?
I joined a few over the years. You get to hear speeches, see famous people, go to lunchens in opulent locations, formal banquets and listen to policy. Endless Policy. White Papers, Pamphlets, Magazines and Books that accompany membership drives and fees and donations. There is a constant flow of paper to you and constant requests for funds.
There are great resident scholars and experts; endless research studies, events, blogs and commentary. It is all great stuff, but overwhelming and overloading.
The officers and resident members have calls to action and submission of documents to influence legislation. Little seems to come of it.
But are they just another link in the elite chain that contains, maintains and locks in the Washington establishment?
For all the thinking, so much of it seems to just be in the tank. m/r
"... think tanks as part of a Washington culture that has failed to implement good governance, while becoming beholden to donors."

For decades, Washington think tanks have been holding pens for senior government officials waiting for their next appointments and avenues of influence for sponsors of their research. Donald Trump's incoming administration is bent on breaking that model.
