Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Jeff Bezos said the e-commerce giant is working with lawmakers and state officials to explore legal options to counter President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration.
In an email to staff Monday, Mr. Bezos said the company has reached out to members of Congress to explore legislative options. The company’s public policy team in Washington, D.C., also has reached out to senior administration officials to make clear its opposition, Mr. Bezos wrote.
In one of the strongest signs of corporate disapproval of the order, Mr. Bezos said Amazon has prepared a declaration of support for a suit filed Monday against the order by the Washington state Attorney General. “We are working on other legal options, as well,” he added.

It is a very simple proposition. Our Constitution vests all executive power — not some of it, all of it — in the president of the United States. Executive-branch officials do not have their own power. They are delegated by the president to execute his power. If they object to the president’s policies, their choice is clear: salute and enforce the president’s directives, or honorably resign. There is no third way.

No one knows this better than high-ranking officials of the Department of Justice. That is why President Trump was right to fire Acting Attorney General Sally Yates.
Over the weekend, President Trump issued an executive order temporarily restricting the admission into the United States of aliens from various Muslim-majority countries, as well as aliens from Syria and elsewhere who are claiming refugee status. Naturally, this has triggered protests by Democrats and the Left. They erroneously claim that Trump’s executive order violates the Constitution, statutory law, American tradition, and human decency.
For inexplicable reasons, the new president left Yates in place to run the Justice Department in anticipation of the confirmation of Senator Jeff Sessions. A faithful Obama-appointed progressive, Yates obviously knew which way the political wind was blowing in her tribe.
Like most Democrats, Yates objects to the president’s executive order. Fair enough. But she is not a political operative, she was a Justice Department official — the highest such official. If her opposition to the president’s policy was as deeply held as she says, her choice was clear: enforce the president’s policy or quit.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Donald Trump signed an order on Monday that will seek to dramatically pare back federal regulations by requiring agencies to cut two existing regulations for every new rule introduced.

"This will be the biggest such act that our country has ever seen. There will be regulation, there will be control, but it will be normalized control," Trump said as he signed the order in the Oval Office, surrounded by a group of small business owners.

Trump's latest executive action will prepare a process for the White House to set an annual cap on the cost of new regulations, a senior official told reporters ahead of the signing.

A warm, sunny Saturday a decade ago, there was a Hispanic festival in our small town, a bedroom community for illegal aliens seeking day labor jobs in the nearby wealthy suburbs. It was a sanctuary city at the time. No problem with the festival itself.  The music was lively and the food tasty.  And don't the Irish have St. Patrick's Day, and the Italians Columbus Day?
While wandering around the festivities, I noticed a table with three nice ladies in front of a "Register To Vote" sign.  Curious about its presence at a festival where the bulk of the crowd was either illegal alien day laborers or legal non-citizens, I went over to inquire.  Before I spoke, one of those nice ladies asked me if I was registered to vote.  Wanting to see where this would go, I said no, and asked how to sign up. A voter registration form was thrust in my hands.  The very first item on these forms, in Virginia and the rest of America, was "I am a citizen of the United States of America," with YES and NO blocks to check.
"Don't I need to show you some proof of citizenship?" I asked. She replied "no."  I asked her how she could verify that I wasn’t lying. Sensing she might be on a slippery slope, she called over a supervisor from the Registrar's Office and told the woman of my concern.  The official told me they never checked citizenship status because I would be penalized if I lied. Really? So I asked her how she would verify my truthfulness, or those of the dozens of new voters being registered that day.  Defensively, she replied that they checked all registrations for accuracy at the Registrar's Office when they were turned in.
I called the Registrar Monday, and asked if they do indeed verify citizenship status.  I was told that they didn't unless someone made a specific complaint against an individual applicant.

When I say that “Donald Trump” was responsible for the sudden and unexpected surge in sales of 1984, what I mean is that the media seized upon a remark by Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway in response to the controversy over the number of people who viewed Trump’s inauguration a week ago.  Trump opined that one and a half million people attended the festivities. The media laughed at that number, claiming it was much lower. Sean Spicer, in his first appearance as the administration’s press secretary, insisted that Trump was right and that, in fact, “that was the largest audience to witness an inauguration, period. Both in person and around the globe.” The media went to town on that, emitting dozens of articles with graphs, charts, statistics, and expert testimony. According to their count, what Trump, and Spicer, said was demonstrably false.

In one gleeful exchange  on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Chuck Todd repeatedly pressed Kellyanne Conway on the issue.  Why Did President Trump and then his press secretary deliberately lie about the facts of the size of the crowd at the inauguration? Conway parried that the press seemed determined to put the new administration in a bad light. For one thing, she noted, we didn’t really know what the total number of people who watched the inauguration was. For another, the press, fixated on crowd size, essentially ignored a reporter’s tweet that Trump had had the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. removed from the Oval Office when that really was demonstrably false. It was all, said Conway, part of the general effort to diminish and delegitimate the new administration.  All that slid of Todd’s back, who came back to the facts about the size of the crowd. Spicer, said Conway, “gave alternative facts.”

Todd instantly jumped on the phrase, claiming that “alternative facts” are not facts but “falsehoods.”

It should go without saying that “alternative facts” by no means need be falsehoods. They might just be facts that not one has mentioned or noticed.  You glance out of a window and the wall on the other side of the street looks pinky-red. In reality, it is white, something the additional and alternative fact that a blazing red sunset was occurring explains.

But the Internet was not going to be detained by that brake on presumption. No siree. It was the work of a moment for some clever people with Twitter accounts to broadcast the meme that the Trump administration is just like Big Brother in 1984, deliberately distorting reality and undermining facts with their own politicized and malevolent narrative of “alternative facts.”

Overnight, the malignant fantasy went viral (and copies of 1984 flew off the virtual shelves at Amazon).  In another piece in The New York Times, the book critic Michiko Kakutani said that Conway’s invocation of “alternative facts” was “chillingly reminiscent . . . of the Ministry of Truth’s efforts in 1984 at ‘reality control.’”

Donald Trump’s forthcoming State visit to Britain was hit by a diplomatic row last night after it emerged he wants to avoid Prince Charles because of their dispute over global warming.

The President is understood to have made it clear he does not want talks with the Prince at Clarence House, a regular feature of such visits. Trump is said to fear a meeting will encourage environmentalists to stage protests against him.

Reports of Trump’s threatened boycott of the Prince come a week after the publication of a new book by the heir to the throne warning of the threat posed by climate change.

President Trump issued an executive order on immigration this week that temporarily suspends entry of all refugees, and shuts down immigration "from countries compromised by terrorism," specifically Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. In response—and to the surprise of no one—the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a class lawsuit against Trump's executive action.
As he promised he would do on the campaign trail, Trump took steps this week to clamp down on immigration and impose "a more rigorous vetting process." Via executive order, Trump suspended entry of all refugees for 120 days, foreign nationals from seven high terror-risk countries for 90 days, and Syrian refugees indefinitely. As the New York Times chronicles, Trump's order—which the Times underscores was accomplished "with the stroke of a pen" (exactly like every one of Obama's executive orders that the paper never seemed to balk at then)—has already begun to have a significant impact on foreign nationals attempting to make it into the country, reportedly including those with green cards.
Early Saturday, the ACLU, along with other advocacy groups, filed a legal challenge to the order on behalf of two Iraqi men detained on Friday at John F. Kennedy Airport, claiming unlawful detention. "The groups asked that the challenge be given class action status so they can represent all refugees and travelers held up because of Trump's executive order on Friday," AFP reports.

President looks to scale back U.S. involvement in activities outside the national interest

President Trump is reportedly preparing an executive order that will significantly reduce U.S. involvement in the United Nations.
The draft order, “Auditing and Reducing U.S. Funding of International Organizations,” would terminate funding completely for any international organization that meets one or more of several criteria.

The U.S. currently provides roughly a quarter of all funding to U.N. peacekeeping missions and funds a full fifth of the body’s general budget alone.

The criteria include those that recognize the Palestinian Authority or PLO, fund abortion, or work to circumvent sanctions against Iran or North Korea. The order also calls for “at least a 40 percent overall decrease” in funding to international groups overall.

The order would also create a committee tasked with identifying where cuts can be made, The New York Times reported. The committee would take a closer look at the International Criminal Court, peacekeeping missions, the UN Population Fund, and developmental aid to countries that oppose U.S. policy.

WaTimes: Hillary Clinton garnered more than 800,000 votes from noncitizens on Nov. 8, an approximation far short of President Trump’s estimate of up to 5 million illegal voters but supportive of his charges of fraud.
Political scientist Jesse Richman of Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, has worked with colleagues to produce groundbreaking research on noncitizen voting, and this week he posted a blog in response to Mr. Trump’s assertion.
Based on national polling by a consortium of universities, a report by Mr. Richman said 6.4 percent of the estimated 20 million adult noncitizens in the U.S. voted in November. He extrapolated that that percentage would have added 834,381 net votes for Mrs. Clinton, who received about 2.8 million more votes than Mr. Trump.

Mr. Richman calculated that Mrs. Clinton would have collected 81 percent of noncitizen votes.

Most Islamic terrorists that the FBI has been dealing with had no specific terror plans at the time that they entered this country. Some Islamic terrorists, like the Tsarnaev perpetrators of the Boston Marathon bombing, came here as children. Others, like Omar Mateen, the Pulse shooter, and Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood killer, contrived to be born in this country to foreign parents.
  Immigration screening has to do more than just ask terrorists to check a box if they plan to fly planes into our skyscrapers. We must identify visitors and immigrants who are at a high risk of becoming terrorists in the first or second generation. The only way to do this is with a holistic strategy that examines the worldview of new immigrants and the Islamic communities they intend to be part of.

Answering Trump in kind, the Mexican head of state tweeted midday Thursday in Spanish, "We have informed the White House that I will not attend the working meeting planned for next Tuesday with @POTUS[.]"
The previous night Peña Nieto had reiterated his government’s opposition both to the wall and to his country paying for it. "I regret and reject the decision of the United States to continue building a wall that, far from uniting, divides us," he tweeted according to an apparently reliable English translation.
In an unprecedented round of refreshingly transparent social media diplomacy, Trump, the master negotiator, published two tweets baiting his Mexican counterpart:

The U.S. has a 60 billion dollar trade deficit with Mexico. It has been a one-sided deal from the beginning of NAFTA with massive numbers of jobs and companies lost. If Mexico is unwilling to pay for the badly needed wall, then it would be better to cancel the upcoming meeting.

Peña Nieto, who is deeply unpopular in his homeland, accepted Trump’s invitation to withdraw from the Jan. 31 summit. He had come under intense pressure in his country to cancel the meeting.

With Trump, there's this little game I like to play called "Good Trump, Bad Trump." One day he appears to be completely rational and highly principled, but the next day he behaves like a spoiled brat who can't accept the fact that fewer people attended his inauguration than Obama's. Good Trump, Bad Trump. It differs from day to day, and often even from hour to hour.

Obviously, this tweet about Chelsea Manning proves that Good Trump is currently in charge of the man. Chelsea Manning is a terrible traitor whose sentence should never have been commuted. In more rational times, Manning would've been executed, which is exactly what he deserves for his betrayal of his own country.

As always, the Washington Post takes offense at Trump's perfectly reasonable tweet. After all, the leftwing media have never seen a traitor they didn't like.

The use of the word “traitor” is often tossed around by political leaders and others to describe alleged acts that threaten national security. But it is rare for a president to brand someone as a traitor, and raised questions on whether Trump could try to bring further action against Manning, who is scheduled to be released in May.

Mexico president cancels Trump summit after wall jibe

MEXICO CITY/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Mexico's president on Thursday scrapped a planned summit with Donald Trump in the face of insistent tweets from the U.S. president demanding Mexico pay for a border wall, a spat that threatens Mexican efforts to salvage trade ties.

Taking a page out of Trump's playbook, President Enrique Pena Nieto fired the salvo on Twitter, after Trump's call for Mexico to foot the bill for his planned wall prompted a groundswell of calls in Mexico for next week's meeting to be called off.

Trump said in a Twitter message earlier on Thursday that his Mexican counterpart should cancel his scheduled visit to Washington if Mexico refuses to pay for the wall that he has ordered constructed along the border. Trump views the wall, a major part of his election campaign, as part of a package of measures to curb illegal immigration.

Trump, who took office last Friday, signed an executive order for construction of the wall on Wednesday, the same day that Mexico's foreign minister held talks with Trump aides in the White House aimed at healing ties....

 ... (As I noted in a recent piece for The American Spectator, among those who voted for the Hall-Davis Communist Party presidential ticket was none other than John Brennan, Barack Obama’s CIA director.)
Davis was one of many tragic academic byproducts of Herbert Marcuse, the leading Frankfurt School cultural Marxist. Marcuse was guru to the 1960s New Left. Davis is arguably Marcuse’s most long-lasting success. He took her under his wing at Brandeis University in the early 1960s. In 1965, she honored her professor by retracing his steps to the University of Frankfurt. He sent her to West Germany to study at his old haunt, the hideous “Institute for Social Research.” She returned in 1967, coming back to America to continue studies with Marcuse as her doctoral adviser. The blooming Bolshevik formally joined Communist Party USA the next year.
Like any good communist, Davis’s road to the revolution included breaking a few eggs along the way. She was soon pursued on charges of kidnapping, murder, and conspiracy for her suspected role in the August 1970 murder of a prison guard. Like Weather Underground terrorists and Obama buddies Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, she landed on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list. And like Ayers and Dohrn, she escaped jail-time (“guilty as hell, free as a bird!” Ayers boasted), and then spread her wings in academia.
Today, like her late mentor, Herbert Marcuse, Angela Davis is (naturally) a professor. She lists among her expertise the field of “critical theory,” the formal academic front-name for cultural Marxism. She holds forth on “LGBTQIA” issues to the wide-eyed freshmen whose duped parents hand over their children and lifetime savings to the universities to indoctrinate them.

Trump expected to order temporary ban on refugees

U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to sign executive orders starting on Wednesday that include a temporary ban on most refugees and a suspension of visas for citizens of Syria and six other Middle Eastern and African countries, say congressional aides and immigration experts briefed on the matter.Trump, who tweeted that a "big day" was planned on national security on Wednesday, is expected to ban for several months the entry of refugees into the United States, except for religious minorities escaping persecution, until more aggressive vetting is in place.
Another order will block visas being issued to anyone from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, said the aides and experts, who asked not to be identified.
In his tweet late on Tuesday, Trump said: "Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!"

Visiting the old White House website address for content 'en Español' brings Web surfers to an error page.

The newly minted president made a point during the Republican primary season of his preference for immigrants to learn English, mocking former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for speaking Spanish on the campaign trail.

The platform of the Women’s March is nothing short than a list of opinionated vagaries written in leftspeak and completely lacking in factual citation. It was carefully designed to stimulate the passions of armchair activists who have and will remain ignorant of the majority of crimes committed against women around the world on a daily basis, at least the crimes that don’t suit the agenda of the  organizers and supporters of the Women's Marches. Namely organizers like Linda Sarsour, an Islamic activist who supports the oppressive Saudi regime, openly meets with Hamas financiers, and romanticizes Sharia law. And supporters like Planned Parenthood, a business that participates in “human organ harvesting and the fetal body part trade.”

I scanned the Internet for any participant able to tell me very clearly what the Women’s March is supposed to be all about. The answer: Angry people who are mad that Trump got elected. The best way they felt they could vent that frustration? Wear vagina hats and carry placards of uteri. That’s right: If you want to throw the biggest temper-tantrum in American history, you just need to be a really big pussy.

John McCain and Lindsey Graham said Sunday they would support Mr. Tillerson’s nomination for the State Department after the lawmakers had expressed concerns about the former Exxon Mobil Corp. chief’s ties to senior members of the Russian government. That increases the likelihood that Senate Republicans will confirm most, if not all, of the president’s cabinet nominations, as Mr. Tillerson was seen as the nominee drawing the most GOP opposition.
A third Senate Republican, Florida’s Marco Rubio, had shared those concerns and is widely seen as the key vote on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, where Republicans hold a one-vote majority. But even if the committee doesn’t approve Mr. Tillerson for the State Department post, the full Senate can still vote on his nomination—a rare procedural tactic.

“After careful consideration, and much discussion with Mr. Tillerson, we have decided to support his nomination to be Secretary of State,” Messrs. McCain and Graham said in a statement. “Though we still have concerns about his past dealings with the Russian government and President Vladimir Putin, we believe that Mr. Tillerson can be an effective advocate for U.S. interests.”

To understand the march better, I stayed up through the nights this week, studying the funding, politics and talking points of the some 403 groups that are “partners” of the march. Is this a non-partisan “Women’s March”?

Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association, a march “partner,” told me his organization was “nonpartisan” but has “many concerns about the incoming Trump administration that include what we see as a misogynist approach to women.” Nick Fish, national program director of the American Atheists, another march partner, told me, “This is not a ‘partisan’ event.” Dennis Wiley, pastor of Covenant Baptist United Church of Christ, another march “partner,” returned my call and said, “This is not a partisan march.”

Really? UnitedWomen.org, another partner, features videos with the hashtags #ImWithHer, #DemsInPhily and #ThanksObama. Following the money, I poured through documents of billionaire George Soros and his Open Society philanthropy, because I wondered: What is the link between one of Hillary Clinton’s largest donors and the “Women’s March”?

I found out: plenty.

By my draft research, which I’m opening up for crowd-sourcing on GoogleDocs, Soros has funded, or has close relationships with, at least 56 of the march’s “partners,” including “key partners” Planned Parenthood, which opposes Trump’s anti-abortion policy, and the National Resource Defense Council, which opposes Trump’s environmental policies. The other Soros ties with “Women’s March” organizations include the partisan MoveOn.org (which was fiercely pro-Clinton), the National Action Network (which has a former executive director lauded by Obama senior advisor Valerie Jarrett as “a leader of tomorrow” as a march co-chair and another official as “the head of logistics”). Other Soros grantees who are “partners” in the march are the American Civil Liberties Union, Center for Constitutional Rights, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. March organizers and the organizations identified here haven’t yet returned queries for comment.

"All of this has deeply disturbing echoes of the dark days of the 1930s.”

What a concept, An Agenda to Match the Campaign Promises

The Trump campaign pledged a limited number of major goals, much as was also outlined in his inaugural address. It also eliminated the trivial and irrelevant, but contentious, phony and incompetent aspects of the prior administration's agenda. Specifically "Climate Change" and "Special Right" for gays and transexuals. 
It will remain to be seen, but a short and muscular agenda is preferable to contentious, social and over regulated programs designed to take control of every aspect of the lives of American Citizens.
Best of All, Americans have been made the primary people in America once again.

New Trump White House Website Sets Agenda That Mirrors Campaign Pledges

WASHINGTON—The Trump administration overhauled the White House’s website Friday and published action plans that ranged from building a wall along the Mexico border to pulling back from trade deals, transforming a number of populist campaign themes into concrete agenda items.
The revised website created six different issue pages for energy policy, foreign policy, economic policy, expanding the size of the military, bolstering law enforcement, and rethinking trade.

The changes include removing language about climate change and the White House’s commitment to LGBTQ issues. The only speech listed on the website is President Donald Trump’s inaugural address from earlier Friday, pared back from the hundreds of speeches previously listed—just as the incoming Obama administration wiped the slate clean in 2009.

Within hours of moving into the White House, Donald Trump has honoured his pledge to return the bust of Winston Churchill to the Oval Office.
The Jacob Epstein sculpture was given to President George W Bush by Tony Blair.

It was displayed in the Oval Office but was removed by President Barack Obama and replaced by a bust of Martin Luther King in 2009. ...
