Authorities in the US are investigating a "breach in protocol" which led to a health worker becoming infected with Ebola after treating a man who died of the virus.

An official said that other health workers in the US state of Texas may have become infected in the same way and that an investigation was under way.

It comes after the British expert in charge of the United Nations response to Ebola has said he hopes the spread of the killer virus will be "under control" in three months.

Obama calls for steps to ensure Ebola protocol is followed

US President Barack Obama has called for "immediate additional steps to ensure hospitals and healthcare providers nationwide are prepared to follow the protocols should they encounter an Ebola patient"..

Earlier, the president was briefed on the second patient to be infected with Ebola in Dallas, Texas.

He also called for an investigation into how a female health worker was infected with the virus to move as quickly as possible.
