When I was in working my way through college, McDonald's offered me three things, OK food, really fast service and a cheap price. That was what I needed on my budget in time and money. I got two of their regular (Wimpy style) hamburgers and a Coke for under a dollar. This was a long time ago. But before the dollar was out of my pocket, after I ordered, the hamburgers and Coke were in front of me. All I had to wait for was my change. Now, I very rarely go their. But when I do, it is even hard to just find a regular hamburger on their wall menu and, of all things, McDonald's takes credit cards for their big, weird assortment of combo meals. If I wanted a combination meal, I'd go to Mexican restaurant. They just made it too complicated for what they are supposed to be: just "McDonald's"! m/r

Burger Giant Says It Erred by Adding Too Many Menu Items Too Quickly
McDonald's Corp. came out with its strongest acknowledgment yet that its customer service in the U.S. has suffered recently, and that it blundered by introducing too many new menu items too quickly.
Jeff Stratton, president of McDonald's USA, said the chain introduced several new products and limited-time offers this year to give customers more variety. "The pace of product introduction in my opinion: too fast," he said Thursday afternoon at an investor meeting at the company's Oak Brook, Ill., headquarters.
Between March and July alone, McDonald's added Premium McWraps, Egg White Delight McMuffins, blueberry pomegranate smoothies and new Quarter Pounders to its menu. The fast pace of the new-product introductions "created challenges for the restaurants," making their operations more complex in ways that slowed service, Mr. Stratton said.
