Manti Te’o, meet Margaret Mead
Manti Te’o, meet Margaret Mead

Exclusive: Jack Cashill compares girlfriend hoax to Samoan 'sexual paradise' ruse
In the last few weeks, the media have scrutinized Notre Dame All-American linebacker Manti Te’o's imaginary girlfriends more thoroughly than they have the very real terrorists who killed four Americans in Benghazi.
To those who care, the question that remains is whether Te’o conspired to fabricate his seemingly tragic relationship with imaginary girlfriend Lennay Kekua or whether he is a victim of a cruel hoax.
If he has been hoaxed, Te’o will not be the first victim of traditional Polynesian trickery, nor the most consequential. That latter honor belongs to culture-changing anthropologist Margaret Mead.
“What we do know is that in every Polynesian community there is the waha nui,” wrote Hawaiian historian Herb Kawainui Kāne to a mutual friend in an email, “the self-appointed spokesman and tale teller, who has a talent for anticipating what a visitor wants to hear and can invent a story on the spot.”
Unfortunately, Herb Kawainui Kāne is no longer around to shed light on the Te’o case. The celebrated author died two years ago at 82.
But he had a good deal to say about Mead, the “youth with romantic ideas” who “found the information she was looking for in Samoa.” The reason she found it? Teenage girls “had invented tales to suit their visitor.”
In the fall of 1922, Mead took a course from Franz Boas, her mentor at Columbia University and the godfather of modern anthropology. Boas taught that “social conditioning” was responsible for the complete molding of the individual, and Mead believed what Boas preached. ...

This is what that Meddlesome, Weenie Bloomberg should be focused on: New York's Sandy Scorecard
New York's Sandy Scorecard by Nicole Gelinas, City Journal WInter 2013
WInter 2013
But it was big enough. As New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg pointed out, Sandy “coincided with a full moon and a high tide, and it collided with a second weather front that made it take a hard left turn.” That turn positioned Sandy just south of New York, so that its counterclockwise winds “drove the water right towards New York City.” Sandy killed 43 city residents, caused tens of billions of dollars’ worth of damage, and will probably reduce New York’s gross city product (a local version of GDP) by nearly a percentage point. For months after the storm, parts of lower Manhattan, the Rockaways in Queens, Coney Island in Brooklyn, and Staten Island have remained disaster areas.
Nearly a month after Sandy hit, New York governor Andrew Cuomo created three blue-ribbon commissions to analyze the state’s response and recommend long-term investments for future “major weather events.” Bloomberg, for his part, said in early December that city officials would develop a “specific and comprehensive action plan” to confront storms in the future. The conclusion that all these groups should draw is now evident: the institutions that worked well before Sandy worked well afterward; those that didn’t failed the test. And the biggest challenges, as New York works to protect itself from major storms, will be political and fiscal, not technical. For all Cuomo’s musing about how “it’s going to be a rethinking, redesign of how we protect this metropolitan area,” what really needs rethinking is the state and local politics that have created dysfunctional agencies and funded them nonsensically.

We Shoot Skeet All the Time (Or is it Sheet?)
Barack Obama in the line of fire as sceptics target his shooting claims - Telegraph By Peter Foster, Washington 29 Jan 2013
Obama's claims that he goes "skeet shooting all the time" have been met with a mixture of quiet mirth and outright disbelief as the gun debate continues.

The Biggest Little Weenie Anti-Freedom Fighter
Weenie Hypocrite Mayor of NY City, Michael Bloomberg |
Now they have Lionized the small in mind and stature, big hypocrite Mayor of NY City, Michael Bloomberg. Bloomberg takes on the giant issues like, salt, soft drink cup sizes, cigarettes, Islamophobia and as always, guns. He has a full detachment of armed NYC Police Security protecting them, while this little hypocrite bastard demands that Americans should disarm! This is from the Mayor who inherited a transformed and well run city from Rudi Giuliani, but who can't personally deal with snow clearance from Bermuda and disaster affects from Hurricane Sandy.
Time Magazine seems to be the fitting place to ironically caricature the mayoral marionette Bloomberg on their cover as a "freedomfighter" as he restricts the freedoms of NY individuals, one weenie issue at a time. m/r

The Constitution was written “more than 100 years ago,” it was all so confusing to understand.
Ed Driscoll » Question Asked and Answered
Ten days later, Time-Warner-CNN-HBO spokesman Morton Downey Morgan Jr. sneeringly described the Constitution as “your little book,” when handed a copy by guest Ben Shapiro.
Back in January of 2011, when the GOP took back control of the House, the New York Times ran an earlier assault on the Constitution, leading Power Line’s John Hinderaker to ask, “Are Liberals Coming Out of the Closet on the Constitution?”
That was around the same time the Washington’s Post’s Young Ezra Klein admitted on MSNBC that in his opinion, because the Constitution was written “more than 100 years ago,” it was all so confusing to understand.
On July 4th 2011, the cover of Time magazine featured a shredded Constitution and a headline that asked, “Does It Still Matter?”
Not to the Left, it doesn’t — and increasingly, they’re not at all afraid to admit it.

What Really Happened in Benghazi: Before, During, and After
Following Qaddafi’s fall from power in the summer of 2011, Ambassador Stevens was tasked with finding and securing the vast caches of powerful armaments which the Libyan dictator had amassed during his long reign. In turn, Stevens helped facilitate the transfer of these arms to the “opposition” rebels in Syria who were trying to topple yet another Arab dictator—Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. As in Libya, the rebels in Syria were likewise known to include al Qaeda and other Shariah-supremacist groups. In addition to facilitating arms transfers, Stevens’ duties also included the recruitment of Islamic jihadists from Libya and elsewhere in North Africa who were willing to personally go into combat against the Assad regime in Syria. The U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi served as a headquarters from which all the aforementioned activities could be coordinated with officials and diplomats from such countries as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.
As 2012 progressed, violent jihadist activity became increasingly commonplace in Benghazi. At or near the U.S. mission, for instance, there were many acts of terrorism featuring the use of guns, improvised explosive devices, hand grenades, rocket-propelled grenades, and car-bombs, to say nothing of the explicit threats against Americans issued by known terrorists like al Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri. As a result of such developments, Ambassador Stevens and others at the U.S. mission repeatedly asked the Obama administration for increased security provisions during 2012, but these requests were invariably denied or ignored.
Then, on the night of September 11, 2012, the U.S. mission in Benghazi was attacked by a large group of heavily armed terrorists who, over the course of seven hours, murdered four Americans and laid waste to the U.S. mission.

In Character, Media Give Michelle a Pass for Expensive and Off-the-Rack Looking Menswear Designer Duds
Four MO Years
Media Give Michelle a Pass for Designer Duds - Katrina Trinko - National Review Online
In contrast, Michelle Obama’s designer duds for the inauguration have drawn little speculation over their price. (Some of the pieces were custom-made, so it’s impossible to know exactly how much they cost.) Google “Michelle Obama inauguration outfit price” and the most relevant result is from Enstarz — a tabloid-looking website I’ve never encountered before — which estimates one outfit worn by the first lady was about $10,000. No one else in the media, it seems, is curious about how much Mrs. Obama spent.
But while the exact price of her garments isn’t known, there’s no doubt that some of the designers the first lady chose are hardly ones that most middle-class Americans can afford.
Take the coat and dress Michelle Obama wore, which were designed just for her by Thom Browne. Browne is better known for his menswear — and it doesn’t come cheap. A pair of his jacquard shorts costs $830, while a polo shirt with a whale print is $1,880. If a garishly bright-colored plaid sports coat is your thing, you can get one for a mere $2,500.

"Neville" Obama: 'Peace in Our Time'
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana
Winston Churchill said this variation:
"Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it"
Obama: 'Peace in Our Time'
It was either an embarrassing slip, or a frightening revelation of the president’s true worldview. Either way, the words “peace in our time,” made infamous by British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain as he promised an illusory peace with Adolf Hitler in 1938, should never have been in President Barack Obama’s second inaugural address. ...
And we must be a source of hope to the poor, the sick, the marginalized, the victims of prejudice--not out of mere charity, but because peace in our time requires the constant advance of those principles that our common creed describes: tolerance and opportunity; human dignity and justice.
