Almost makes one want to believe there is a (very slow) God: Kennedy's exit from Congress

Draw a vertical line down the middle of a piece of paper making two columns. Entitle it All Kennedy's Net Affect on America. Don't forget to include the Ambassador Joseph Kennedy, the patriarch.
Put a Plus at the head of one column and Minus at the other.
Now be scrupulously and sagaciously honest.
Note all the Kennedy 'events' you can remember and place each one in the column where they belong.
Count the events on under plus and minus.
Tally up both sides and see if we are better off with this "void."

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Kennedys have held congressional seats, the presidency and the public's imagination for more than 60 years.

That era ends when Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island vacates his U.S. House seat next month...

The son of the late Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy says he has no qualms about walking away from politics. His departure marks the first time in 63 years that a Kennedy won't be serving in elected office in Washington.

The 43-year-old Kennedy says in his family, "the legacy was always public service, and that didn't necessarily mean public office."
