Is Obama's second term sunk? 'Maybe I should just pack up and go home.' - CSMonitor.com

On the 100th day of his second term, President Obama laughed at the suggestion he may have run out of 'juice' for his agenda and expressed optimism on immigration reform.

By Staff writer / April 30, 2013
It is Day 100 in President Obama’s second term, not the milestone moment it was in the first term, but still an opportunity for stock-taking.
In a hastily called press conference Tuesday morning, Mr. Obama laughed at a reporter’s suggestion that he may not have the “juice” to get the rest of his agenda through a divided Congress, after the defeat of a gun-control measure that had strong public backing and the president’s vocal support.
“Maybe I should just pack up and go home,” the president joked, speaking in the White House briefing room. “As Mark Twain said, you know, rumors of my demise may be a little exaggerated at this point.”

Poor Boy, He Was Just Punchy - Did brain injury from boxing cause Boston bombing suspect's violence?

And he was from the Caucasus, just suffering from bedwetting, child abuse, limited welfare, and his luxury car was too small. It's just as Obama says, Islam had nothing to do with it, it was just a pair of deranged individual terrorists, one punchy and the other was just along for the ride in a Mercedes...

Did brain injury from boxing cause Boston bombing suspect's violence?

Researchers called on investigators to perform an autopsy on Tamerlan Tsarnaev's brain to determine if he suffered chronic traumatic encephalopathy.
The search for motives in the Boston Marathon bombings may take investigators into the brain of one of the suspects – literally.
Saturday, two brain disease researchers appealed to investigators to conduct a special autopsy on Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the bombing suspect killed during a shootout with police. The Boston Globe reported that some are questioning whether Tsarnaev, an amateur boxer, could have suffered brain damage that contributed to his alleged violent actions.
The researchers also expressed doubts, however.

AP Scrubs ‘Muslim’ from Obama’s Self-Referential Joke | FrontPage Magazine

By Robert Spencer On April 30, 2013
Warner Todd Huston reported at Breitbart Monday that “in some of its reports on Saturday night’s White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD), the Associated Press failed to include one of President Obama’s own gags.”
Obama said: “These days I look in the mirror and have to admit, I’m not the strapping young Muslim Socialist that I used to be.” But, noted Huston, “in one version of the night’s story (as seen at Huffington PostTime MagazineBreitbart Wires, the Ottawa Citizen, and The Columbian to name a few), the AP’s Bradley Klapper forgot one part of the President’s joke,” reporting his words as “I’m not the strapping young Socialist that I used to be,”
Why? Did they think it had too much of a ring of truth?
Why did some editors at AP or at the publications that picked up the AP story think it necessary to run interference for Obama on this point?
By mocking the idea that he is a Muslim (and a Socialist), Obama is trying to render these things too ridiculous for serious public discussion. Fine. His personal beliefs are of no moment, except insofar as they influence his public stances. And the direction of his public policies is obvious. He has maintained a consistent foreign policy line that has enabled the establishment of several Islamic supremacist, pro-Sharia states in North Africa and the Middle East, and a domestic policy that has enabled the advance of the Islamic supremacist agenda to assert the primacy of Islamic law over American law and practice wherever they conflict. No amount of mockery will obscure that.
The record is clear.

An Administration Crazed with its own Power! it is about time: GAO Now Investigating DHS Ammo Purchases

The Government Accountability Office tells Whispers it is now investigating large ammunition purchases made by the Department of Homeland Security. Chuck Young, a spokesman for GAO, says the investigation of the purchases is "just getting underway."

The congressional investigative agency is jumping into the fray just as legislation was introduced in both the Senate and the House to restrict the purchase of ammo by some government agencies (except the Department of Defense). The AMMO Act, introduced Friday, would prevent agencies from buying more ammunition if "stockpiles" are greater than what they were in previous administrations.
Donelle Harder, a spokeswoman for Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., who introduced the legislation in the Senate, tells Whispers the bill would also require GAO to share the findings of its report on DHS purchases with Congress.
Officials at DHS have denied to both Whispers and lawmakers that it is stockpiling ammunition. The Associated Press reported in February that DHS wanted to buy more than 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, but DHS officials testified last week it was only planning to buy up to 750 million.

GOP aims to slow federal bullet buys - The Hill
By Jordy Yager 04/27/13

Republicans want to limit the number of bullets federal agencies can purchase so American gun owners can buy more.

Oklahoma Sen. Jim Inhofe and Rep. Frank Lucas have introduced a bill that would prohibit every government agency — except the military — from buying more ammunition each month, than the monthly average it purchased from 2001 to 2009.

The lawmakers say the Obama administration is buying up exceedingly high levels of ammunition in an attempt to limit the number of bullets the American public have access to on the open marketplace.

"President Obama has been adamant about curbing law-abiding Americans’ access and opportunities to exercise their Second Amendment rights," said Inhofe.

Move on, No Double Standard Here - Steyn: Media will downplay Boston bomber-Muslim link

Steyn: Media will downplay Boston bomber-Muslim link | The Daily Caller
from 4-19-13

On Rush Limbaugh’s Friday program, fill-in host Mark Steyn reminded listeners of Limbaugh’s Tuesday comments predicting the media would “circle the wagons” for Islam if it turned out that the suspects in Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing Muslims, saying that the prediction will come true.
As it turned out, the suspects Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were indeed Muslims, and Steyn, author of  “After America: Get Ready for Armageddon,” said the media wagon-circling would begin “any moment now.”
“As we now know, these guys are Muslim,” Steyn said. “One of them was Muslim. He’s dead — he died in the early hours this morning. The other guy, still on the lam, is Muslim — Muslims from Chechnya. And so, as usual, any moment now we’ll start to hear, ‘Oh well, these are just lone wolves,’ as Rush said. ‘They’re not typical of anything.’ None of these guys are ever typical of anything.”

Why are liberals afraid of black conservatives? - The Truth!

"The Democratic Party and our mercenary black leaders won’t willingly give up the power and perks they’ve gathered on the backs of black America. Believe me, the biggest weapon the Republican Party has today is the black conservative. The Democrats know it, the race-bait-pimps and poverty princes like Sharpton and Jackson know it, and the media that move to destroy black conservatives whenever they can know it best of all. That is probably why the likes of Jackson and the MSNBC talking heads do not debate men like Ben Carson or Thomas Sowell."
Why are liberals afraid of black conservatives? | Washington Times Communities
Sunday, April 14, 2013 - What is Really Going on? by Wayne Dupree

WASHINGTON, April 14, 2013 — Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman are heros. Their strength and conviction to free blacks from slavery are a testament to what happens when individuals think more of their community than themselves and are willing to risk everything for a cause greater than themselves.
In comparison, modern black “leaders” like Jesse Jackson Jr. and Al Sharpton are tiny and self-serving. They don’t serve black Americans or champion freedom and liberty for all. They champion liberal politics and ideology, and that’s odd; liberals want to see blacks tucked neatly into the roles of their design.
Liberals can’t abide a black person who leaves the black plantation of poverty and handouts to stand on his own two feet; they treat with contempt a black man who turns his back on their free money to work hard to make a good life for himself and his family. How dare these dissidents show the black community what they can do with their lives if they walk away from poverty and work to better themselves?
Too many liberals think they have the black race all sewed up, and it just paralyzes them to hear of black conservatives.
What they hate is that there are thousands of conservative blacks continuing to talk, continuing to make noise, continuing to be rebels against the liberal plantation that is the Democratic Party.

Capitalism is killing our morals, our future - Paul B. Farrell - Except this dumbs has no idea what Capitalism is!

Capitalism is killing our morals, our future - Paul B. Farrell - MarketWatch

By Paul B. Farrell, MarketWatch
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (MarketWatch) — Yes, capitalism is working ... for the Forbes 1,000 Global Billionaires whose ranks swelled from 322 in 2000 to 1,426 recently. Billionaires control the vast majority of the world’s wealth, while the income of American workers stagnated.
Farrell's ideal Capitalist
For the rest of the world, capitalism is not working: A billion live on less than two dollars a day. With global population exploding to 10 billion by 2050, that inequality gap will grow, fueling revolutions, wars, adding more billionaires and more folks surviving on two bucks a day.
Over the years we’ve explored the reasons capitalism blindly continues on its self-destructive path. Recently we found someone who brilliantly explains why free-market capitalism is destined to destroy the world, absent a historic paradigm shift: That is Harvard philosopher Michael Sandel, author of the new best-seller, “What Money Can’t Buy: The Moral Limits of Markets,” and his earlier classic, “Justice: What’s the Right Thing to Do?”
For more than three decades Sandel’s been explaining how capitalism is undermining America’s moral values and why most people are in denial of the impact. His classes are larger than a thousand although you can take his Harvard “Justice” course online. Sandel recently summarized his ideas about capitalism in the Atlantic. In “What Isn’t for Sale?” he writes:
“Without being fully aware of the shift, Americans have drifted from having a market economy to becoming a market society ... where almost everything is up for sale ... a way of life where market values seep into almost every sphere of life and sometimes crowd out or corrode important values, non-market values.”

George Will: Courts, Finance Committee give Obama adult supervision - The Washington Post

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Tex.), chairman of the Financial Services Committee, has told Richard Cordray not to bother. This is part of the recent evidence that government is getting some adult supervision.
Barack Obama used a recess appointment to make Cordray director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. But a federal circuit court has declared unconstitutional three other recess appointments made the same day because the Senate was not in recess. SoHensarling has told Cordray not to testify before his committee: “Absent contrary guidance from the United States Supreme Court, you do not meet the statutory requirements of a validly serving director of the CFPB, and cannot be recognized as such.”
Last week the Federal Aviation Administration promoted chaos in travel by furloughing air-traffic controllers, supposedly because the cuts from the so-called sequester — amounting to 4 percent of its budget — cannot be otherwise implemented. Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) notes that the FAA says its 15,000 air-traffic controllers must be furloughed in the same proportion as its 32,000 other employees, who include librarians, historians, speechwriters, PR people, congressional and White House liaisons and many others perhaps less essential to the FAA’s primary mission than are people in O’Hare’s control tower.

Ban the Pressure Cookers
Rodney Page April 25, 2013

This morning I saw a story on CNSNews.com. In part, it reads:
A local news outlet is reporting that the home-goods retailer, Williams-Sonoma has pulled pressure cookers from their shelves in the aftermath of the Boston attack.
According to the Dedham Patch, Williams-Sonoma has pulled pressure cookers off the shelves out of respect for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
…a store manager of the Williams-Sonoma at the Natick Mall says:
“It’s a temporary thing out of respect.”
There’s nothing funny about last week’s tragedy in Boston, nothing at all.
However, reaction to the bombing further illustrates the absurd and surreal culture in which we now live. Our mindset seems to be things harm people, not other people.
That’s the unspoken theme of the gun control advocates, and now it’s made its way to the most innocuous of the innocuous…the lowly pressure cooker.
I must ask, what respect is shown to victims of the bombing by removing an inanimate, non-thinking, non-feeling kitchen utensil from a store’s shelves?

The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented – by creating a mechanism for them to earn citizenship and move out of the shadows – transcends the issue of immigration status. Obama’s Psychodramas - "usually illogical and incoherent"

Obama’s Psychodramas | National Review Online

By Victor Davis Hanson  4-23-13
Unlike Sandy Hook and gun control, the Tsarnaev case teaches real lessons about immigration.

Barack Obama has a habit of trying to energize his legislative agenda by stoking the fires of emotionally charged current events — and in ways usually illogical and incoherent. The shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords and the horrible mass murders at Sandy Hook Elementary School were cited as reasons for rapid enactment of new gun-control laws — even though the proposed tougher registration rules would not have prevented either mayhem.
Tightening up the process for legal acquisition of firearms would not much hinder the mentally ill from getting their hands on guns. And the various measures needed to stop a crazy Adam Lanza or Jared Lee Loughner would be mostly intolerable for liberal or conservative civil libertarians — incarcerating far more of the mentally unhinged, censoring the depiction of gratuitous and violent use of guns in video games and films, confiscating the vast pools of semi-automatic rifles and handguns owned by private citizens. No matter. Sandy Hook and the shooting of Gabby Giffords were still arguments to shame opponents — in the president’s words, “lying” opponents — into accepting the administration’s proposals.
Furthermore, the politically driven distortion of recent gun violence was aimed not just at passing gun-control legislation, but also at demonizing opponents for the 2014 elections. That is why President Obama’s political guru, David Axelrod, almost immediately floated the idea that the catalyst for the Boston violence was “tax day,” in a not-so-subtle insinuation that just maybe some right-wing tea-party types had set off the bombs. That theme soon metamorphosed among the Left into charges that right-wing-inspired sequestration had curbed law-enforcement vigilance and that right-wing opposition to laws against acquiring explosives had enabled the bombers.
In President Obama’s State of the Union Address this February, he cited current inclement weather to argue for renewed efforts to implement some type of cap-and-trade taxes and to grant more subsidies of “sustainable energy” (e.g., wind and solar): “Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and floods — all are now more frequent and intense. We can choose to believe that Superstorm Sandy, and the most severe drought in decades, and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen, were all just a freak coincidence. Or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science — and act before it’s too late.”
[Here Obama just Flat-out lies and his stupidity or ignorance follows!]
Such weather hysteria brings to mind candidate Obama’s bizarre claim in May 2007 that the tornado in Greensburg, Kan., killed 10,000 people. (“In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.”) The tornado actually killed ten or eleven people. ...

If you have ever been in a knife fight, you wish you could have prevented it by brandishing a gun! It’s Time To Do Something About Knives

It’s Time To Do Something About Knives | FrontPage Magazine

By Daniel Greenfield On April 26, 2013
The gun control background check measure may have been defeated, but that just means it’s time to move on to knife background checks.
Knives are all around us. Most people own 2 or 3. Some even own a dozen. Some knives are safely dull but others can cut through anything. Flip through the television channels late at night and you can catch infomercials in which grinning men in red aprons cut through wood, metal and leather with knives that anyone with a credit card and no common sense can buy.
Most people don’t think about knives at all. They don’t think about knife culture. They don’t think about what’s wrong with a society that allows anyone to buy a set of Japanese ceramic knives that claim to be able to cut through bone faster than any other knife on earth for only $29.95 plus shipping and handling.
They don’t think about the knives until the knives come after them.
On April 14th, Dylan Quick, a Lone Star College student, stabbed fourteen fellow students, many in the face and neck. Quick had fantasized about stabbing people to death and wearing their faces as masks since he was eight years old. And with a knife, he almost succeeded in making his dream come true.
It would be all too easy to fall into the trap of blaming Dylan Quick for his actions, but we must look deeper and ask, what about the knife?  Without the knife, Quick would have been just another college student fantasizing harmlessly, like most college students do, about cannibalism and necrophilia. It was the knife that made Dylan Quick dangerous. He wouldn’t have gotten very far stabbing people with his hands.
Quick carried out his stabbing spree with an X-Acto razor utility knife.

Manslaughter by Political Expediency - Obama & Clinton’s Benghazi Lies Exposed

"What does it Matter" that this was a full White House cover-up:
"...after a White House Deputies Meeting on Saturday, September 15, 2012, the Administration altered the talking points to remove references to the likely participation of Islamic extremists in the attacks… removed references to the threat of extremists linked to al-Qa’ida in Benghazi and eastern Libya, including information about at least five other attacks against foreign interests in Benghazi."
It is called perjury!

Obama & Clinton’s Benghazi Lies Exposed | FrontPage Magazine

By Arnold Ahlert On April 26, 2013
A searing new Interim Progress Report released by the GOP chairmen of five House committees reveals the disturbing extent of the Obama administration’s deceit and manipulation over the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. As the 43-page document details, not only was gross incompetence to blame for the success of the attack that cost four Americans their lives, but a concerted effort at the highest levels of government was undertaking to cover up the debacle, deceive the public and shield officials, including then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and President Obama, from responsibility.
Ranking Democrats on the same five committees, who said they were not included in writing the report, dismissed it as politically motivated. “You are sacrificing accuracy in favor of partisanship,” they said in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH).
Hardly. Dividing the timeline into three sections — before, during and after the attack — the report paints a damning picture of the Hillary Clinton-led State Department, which knew “the threat environment in Benghazi was high and that the Benghazi compound was vulnerable and unable to withstand an attack, yet the Department continued to systematically withdraw security personnel.”
The smoking gun revealed in the report — contrary to Hillary Clinton’s congressional testimony that requests for additional security in Benghazi never reached her — was that “an April 2012 State Department cable bearing Secretary Hillary Clinton’s signature acknowledged then-Ambassador Cretz’s formal request for additional security assets but ordered the withdrawal of security elements to proceed as planned.” A Senate report, “Flashing Red: A Special Report on the Terrorist Attack at Benghazi,” released on December 31, confirmed the lack of security, citing ”extremely poor security in a threat environment that was ‘flashing red.’”

The puffery of Dr. Golliwog - Diagnosing Dr. Biden

This story rang of circular irony from its tittle on. The most pretentious amongst us have been adding "Dr." to their names. These are pompous empty suits who must know deep down their is nothing beyond their big façade which is lapped up eagerly by their laid-dog followers in todays dumb-downed academia and media alike.
In addition to "Dr." Biden, the author is spot on in skewering two of biggest phonies in our society,
Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Maya Angelou.
"Dr. Biden is not alone in having recognized the virtue of pretending to be a doctor in public. The L.A. Times has identified a “select group of non-medicos who are routinely referred to as ‘Dr.’” The most prominent of these are Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Maya Angelou. Given his leveling views, quite why Cornel West insists upon describing himself as “Dr. West” is beyond me. Still, whatever the reason, at least he actually uses his Princeton doctorate, in academia. Maya Angelou’s title is derived from the more than 30 honorary doctorates that she has been awarded. Why does she add the “Dr.”? “The Ph.D. system,” complains the renegade British-American physicist Freeman Dyson, “is the real root of the evil of academic snobbery. People who have Ph.D.s consider themselves a priesthood.” Ah, that’s why."
To add "insult to irony," during the period of Southern Jim Crow, the title of "Dr." was bestowed on black men by whites to get around calling them "Mr."
The 'Jim Crow Museum' form Ferris State Univ. explains the Etiquette in this past, sad, hierarchy much better:
Whites much preferred to give blacks honorary titles, such as Doctor, or Professor, or Reverend, in order to avoid calling them Mister. While the term "nigger" was universally used, some whites were uncomfortable with it because they knew it was offensive to most blacks. As a substitute, the word "niggra" often appeared in polite society.

The account is “run by Dr. Jill Biden’s Office,” and it tells us absorbing things about Dr. Biden — things such as “Yesterday, Dr. Biden hosted an education roundtable” and “Yesterday, Dr. Biden honored the nation’s top teachers.” It retweets praise, too: “Thank you Dr. Biden for your work as an educator and as a voice for all educators in our nation,” reads one tribute. If a tweet is signed “Jill,” the doctoral bio informs us, this indicates that it is a “tweet from Dr. Biden.” “Jill,” if you’re wondering, is Dr. Biden’s nickname. Her formal name is “Dr.”
Wherever she goes and whatever she does, Dr. Biden is always referred to as “Dr. Biden.” “Is Joe Biden married to a physician?” wondered theLos Angeles Times in January. “You might have gotten that impression while watching television coverage of the inauguration.” Yes, you might have indeed.
Dr. Biden isn’t a physician, of course. She has a doctorate – in “educational leadership,” whatever the hell that is. This gives her the right to call herself “Dr.” in much the same way as my Master’s degree gives me the right to put MA after my name. Perhaps my Twitter handle should be @MA(Oxon)Charles?

It is always about the "Phony Bastards" who have never looked in a mirror except to admire themselves » The Chechen in the Rye

The Editors at the NY Times, Big Media and the Obama Gov't are so full of their own rarified gas, they all seem to forget "Catcher in the Rye" (if they ever read it) is about alienation from the phony bastards like them. Muslim fanatics are among the phoniest, as are all the self-righteous just mentioned. m/r

To paraphrase the immortal words of Holden Caulfield: "I can just see the big phony bastard shifting into first gear and asking [Allah] to send him a few more stiffs."

In a post titled “Anger Management,” Mark Steyn writes, “Former brother-in-law Elmirza Khozhugov explains Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s grievances to The New York Times“:

So he blew up an eight-year old boy and a couple of hundred other Americans.
And now the media are full of stories about how the Tsarnaevs were all-American kids and “beautiful, beautiful boys” and maybe it was the boxing or the Ben Affleck movies or the classical music but, whatever it was, it was nothing to do with Islam. Nothing whatever.
I blame The Catcher in the Rye. Particularly after the New York Times‘ Michiko Kakutani did, too, on their front page, to boot. (Link safe; goes to Newsbusters):
Given the layers of irony, sarcasm and joking often employed on Twitter, it can be difficult to parse the messages of a stranger. Yet some of them can seem menacing or portentous, given what we now suspect: “a decade in america already, I want out,” “Never underestimate the rebel with a cause” or “No one is really violent until they’re with the homies.” But others suggest a more Holden Caulfield-like adolescent alienation: “some people are just misunderstood by the world thus the increase of suicide rates.”

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -
Transportation Security Administration agents found pottery filled with dirt and human skull fragments inside a carry-on bag at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
Two women heading to Baltimore were carrying the bag on their AirTrain fight when the discovery was made in Terminal 1 at the Concourse C checkpoint about 3 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
Investigators told Local 10's Christina Vazquez the passengers were Santeria priestess from Baltimore, who traveled to Cuba for religious training.
The women said they purchased the pots at a religious shop, saying they are for "protection."

Chipping away - Boston and freedom

Who are they protecting, us or just themselves?
How many law enforcement agencies, including immigration and the Russians, were watching the Boston Islamic Jihad Terrorists?
With the exception of the Russians, who, if you will pardon the expression, Red Flagged these two 'Chetchin' Terrorists, the whole body of the combined US, State, Local and any other jurisdiction of Governmental agency flat out failed before, and in many cases after, the terrorist's bombs blew up!
Most of these agencies are terribly inept, especially the over bloated Department of Homeland Security (DHS)!
All appear to spend much of their time, effort and energy on protecting their own turf instead of "protecting" us. They have failed and should be cut back severely or completely disbanded, i.e. DHS.
WHAT GOOD ARE THEY?! m/r

The government’s fidelity to the Constitution is never more tested than in a time of crisis. The urge to do something -- or to appear to be doing something -- is nearly irresistible to those whom we have employed to protect our freedom and to keep us safe. Regrettably, with each passing violent crisis -- Waco, Oklahoma City, Columbine, 9/11, Newtown and now the Boston Marathon -- our personal freedoms continue to slip away, and the government itself remains the chief engine of that slippage.

The American people made a pact with the devil in the weeks and months following 9/11 when they bought the Bush-era argument that by surrendering liberty they could buy safety. But that type of pact has never enhanced either liberty or safety, and its fruits are always bitter.

The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It was written to create and to restrain the federal government. Every person who works for any government in the U.S. has taken an oath of fidelity to the Constitution, not unlike the presidential oath, which induces a promise to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution.

BOLTON: We can't ignore foreign roots of the massacre - Washington Times

America won’t be safe if inconvenient facts are ignored

by John R. Bolton April 23, 2013
While many questions remain unanswered about the murderous Boston Marathon bombing, we cannot gloss over the Chechen origins of the terrorism suspects. With one of the Tsarnaev brothers dead and the other in police custody, it is hardly certain that any significant information will come from the suspects themselves.
The first critical decision was whether to treat the surviving suspect as a criminal defendant or an enemy combatant. Although law-enforcement sources have confirmed that they have invoked the “public-safety exception” to postpone advising Dzhokhar Tsarnaev of his Fifth Amendment rights, the exception is limited in both time and scope of inquiry. It is manifestly insufficient to sustain the time-consuming interrogation that could reveal significant information about international terrorism. Moreover, since President Obama has consistently viewed terrorism against America as a law-enforcement matter rather than an ongoing war, it’s no surprise he quickly reverted to his default position of trial in federal courts. Undoubtedly, a court-appointed attorney will soon advise Mr. Tsarnaev to clam up and reveal nothing more.
The better course was to hold Mr. Tsarnaev at least initially as an enemy combatant, in order to gain as much useful intelligence as possible. There will be ample time later to try him (and potentially others) as a criminal defendant, since there is overwhelming and indisputably admissible evidence to convict him in a subsequent criminal proceeding, whether Miranda rights are read to him now or later.
A second critical decision must also be made immediately: How vigorously to require that U.S. intelligence services and law-enforcement agencies focus on the possibility the Tsarnaev brothers are part of, or were materially assisted by, international terrorist groups.

Progressive - 'Dialectical Materialism' in a Nutshell - The truth is incorrect

He mocked the fast-mini "call to prayer measured by him as only 22 seconds" Turkey Convicts World-Renowned Pianist for ‘Defaming’ Islam

Turkey Convicts World-Renowned Pianist for ‘Defaming’ Islam | FrontPage Magazine
by Andrew Harrod On April 23, 2013
Turkish court on April 15, 2013, convicted world-renowned pianist Fazil Say under Article 216(3) of the Turkish Penal Code.  This article punishes “[a]nyone who openly denigrates the religious values of a part of the population” with imprisonment of six months to a year.  Say’s case highlights once again the limits to free speech in Muslim-majority countries including Turkey, often touted in the past as an example of Islamic faith coexisting with freedom.  The world as well should note this clear warning about ongoing Muslim assaults upon free speech internationally.
The composer and pianist Say, who has played for the New York Philharmonic, Berlin Symphony, and other prominent orchestras, had made comments deemed offensive by various Muslims on his Twitter account.  In one tweet, Say mocked a call to prayer measured by him as only 22 seconds in length.  “Why such haste?” Say tweeted.  “Have you got a mistress waiting or a raki on the table?” he asked in reference to a traditional alcoholic drink made with aniseed falling under Islam’s alcohol prohibition.  Other Say tweets cited by the charges included one in which he questioned whether heaven was a tavern or brothel on the basis of a verse attributed to the famous medieval poet Omar Khayyam.  Say, who was in southern Germany at the time of the verdict for a concert, received a10-month suspended sentence that he will not have to serve unless he commits the same offense in the next five years.
In response, Sevim Dağdelen, a Turkish-descent member of the German parliament and international affairs spokesperson for her Left party (Die Linke),condemned the verdict in a press release.  Dağdelen had previously attended Say’s trial opening on October 18, 2012, (later postponed until February 18, 2013) and had drawn international attention to Says cause.  The press release called the verdict a “scandal” of the “Erdoğan-Regime” and its “AKP justice” in reference to Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his AKP party.  She demanded an immediate end to German participation in Turkish European Union (EU) accession talks in order not “to reward the AKP for its running amok against democracy and human rights.”  Ironically, Dağdelen’s party has its origins, in part, in the successor to East Germany’s Communists, the Party of Democratic Socialism (Partei des Demokratischen Sozialismus or PDS).
